Just a bunch of rambling and it won't happen. Not that I don't think the NHL is perfect, the ideas he puts forth won't happen. First and foremost, we need a compentent commish. Secondly we need to scrap the NHL marketing team right now and hire an independent marketing firm to do the leagues marketing.

"Not that I don't think the NHL isn't perfect"
Wow... a confusing triple negative. Am I to believe that you think the NHL is perfect?
We need to get rid of the following teams, from west to east: The Anaheim Ducks; Dallas Stars; The Nashville Predators; The Columbus Bluejackets; The Atlanta Thrashers; both of the Florida teams
Move the Phoenix Coyotes back to Winnepeg; move the Carolina Hurricanes back to Hartford.
While we're at it, bring a team here to Portland.
I think his a fantastic idea.

I don't follow basketball or baseball to closely... how do the Rangers and Mavericks do?
Anyway, I live just north of Portland and they really are into hockey out here.

I always love articles by idiots who admit they're not big hockey fans, but they know how to save the league.
His plan is so superficial and shallow that he doesn't realize that some of the teams he thinks should be eligible to be promoted to the NHL are the farm teams for current NHL teams. It would require a total change in the way the league is run, including a consolidation under one organization (much like the FA in England) and an elimination of the draft requiring teams to start their own developmental academies, including scouting and developing their own talent internally.

Rotating farm teams? There's nothing in my post that comes anywhere close to come to the conclusion that this would result in rotating farm teams.
The guy wants an EPL-model for the NHL. That would require so many fundamental changes in the NHL model that it's entirely unfeasible and anyone who suggests it, didn't think through their "solution" in the entirety.
