And as much bile as I spit at the Raiders and Chiefs, I actually respect them as opponents. I never respected the Chargers and look forward to seeing them return to the basement dwelling stepping stone of the AFC West.
I'm fond of the Chargers and not ashamed to say so. We lived in SD from 1984-1997. The Chargers '94 season was a blast. Broncos were bunk that year, SD with Stan Humphries, Bobby Ross, Natrone Means, etc, toughed out an 11-5 season. Beat the Steelers in the season finale on Christmas Eve, then beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh to win the AFC Championship.

I worked a 15 hour day on the AFC Championship gameday, was driving home to our place in Pine Valley going up the grade on I-8 listening to the radio broadcast in my '90 Toyota truck, pounding on the steering wheel honking the horn enjoying the underdog Chargers beating the Steelers on the road for an AFC Title.

Too bad they met the 49ers in the Super Bowl, one of the all-time great teams with Steve Young, Jerry Rice, et al.

I always managed to allow myself to enjoy the charger wins, started with bambi ! but in 1986 I went to a game with my san diego friend...
all the fans were great BEFORE the game against my broncos at the murph, but...
at the end of the game AFTER the chargers won, that same crowd turned into a bunch of empowered assholes !

How as a fan would you feel if your team pulls that one on you?!

Frankly, the Chargers '95 Super Bowl, I was happy to see SD score 26 points. Remember, the two Broncos teams only scored 20 points in TWO Super Bowls before that, 55-10 against the 49ers and 42-10 against the Redskins.

I never attended an NFL game at the Murph, did attend many Padres games for $5 admission each. Couldn't afford the price of admission for an NFL game.

I think the books opened up with the Chiefs as an 8 point favorite, then they shortened the spread to get some SF money in.

Having already incurred a $117,000 team fine earlier this month, Burress drew $45,000 in additional fines from the NFL for his actions during and after the Giants' 29-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7.
