No different than when teams found a Lawrence Taylor, Reggie White, Barry Sanders or etc. Those players don’t fit the mold, they break them.

Every successful QB is right team, right staff. We saw that with Elway, Young, Favre, Brady and etc.
You go to the wrong team and the QB will suffer.
Only because I’ve learned over the years to pump the brakes on fast starts by young QB’s, esp when they are playing a non-traditional offense. That’s all, it’s nothing personal. That said, he definitely has the wow factor, no doubt. How’s that?

    • Lamar will get played differently by good teams 2nd times around. He's super talented but so are some of his opponents. Sometimes you gotta see it first hand to understand what you gotta do to stop it. Lamar's ability to keep growing and adapting will be what stands between him as a flash in the pan and a 10 year superstar.

always good to pump the brakes before coronations !
Last year I saw a rookie QB who displayed a propensity to cough up the football.
(small hands, poor discipline, I thought. )
I see nothing like that this year.
damn near unstoppable, just ask BB.
        SPY ?
        a spy is just a spectator !
instead a defense needes an ASSASSIN !
someone with the speed and strength to run down lamar and tackle him !
and it can't always be the same guy either, because the ravens will just target the assasin in their blocking scheme.
What team has 2 or more dcefenders that can run down lamar?

Coaches may have to get their fastest offensive players involved in defending lamar.

Eventually he's gonna get Atwatered running in traffic. Even Cam couldn't hold up to the beatings and Lamar will go the same way. However will it happen next year, in 5 or 10 is hard to predict. Maybe he'll learn to play from the pocket first and maybe he won't.

Mariota was looking like a quality QB for a while, now he looks like a shell shocked veteran from the Belgian trenches.

Cam and Lamar don't play alike. Cam is big and always running around like super man and taking massive hits. Lamar gets down and plays it much safer to avoid hits.

Excellent. Very informed take on the subject.

              • KC has played Lamar twice and won. The first time, it took Mahomes heroics to get it done. The seceond time..week 3 this year....KC got out to a big lead early. Baltimore/Lamar aren't the best when they have to mix in some pass to try and catch back up. One way to beat them is jump out early, force them into doing things they don't do so well.

They has a stupid game plan against you guys and were missing key players on D in the secondary. They came out pass happy and tried to out KC KC. If not for a couple lucky LJ throws it would have been a big blowout. Baltimore wont do that gameplan again. At this rate you guys will be playing it their house vs in yours like last 2 times.

The guy is having an MVP season. Will be over 1,000 yards rushing and 3,000 yards passing.

what other QB in history has done that?

Whether he can sustain that over some years or not we will see. Vick and Cam couldnt. No one else to compare to. Young did it for a little bit but not close to it.

He's good. I don't ever want to play that guy again if I don't have to.

If Playoffs were today, and KC met them in the playoffs, the game would be in baltimore, but KC does have the tiebreaker head to head so there is that.

Not likely to be the same result next time unless KC's defense turns into a juggernaut.

Lamar is much smaller than Cam and likes to run in traffic. It's only a matter of time.

Vick was smaller and ran into big hits as well, the only thing that stopped him was a prison sentence.

Lamar doesn't like running, his natural instinct isn't to run, he runs when necessary. Cam ran to try and truck folks. It's not the same style of amount of hits.

I agree its likely for him to get injured running the ball like a RB but i like to keep that out of the discussion about stopping him.

Not really. kinda. He kept it up best he could but the Falcons couldn't win with that Offense. Vick was already over-hyped heading into that lawsuit.
