  • some pre-season defense rankings

I know, it's pre-season, so we have to take this with a grain of salt, but...

#1 scoring defense by a fairly wide margin. Broncos have given up 3 TD's in 4 games.

    #2 yards defense, behind Baltimore.

#2 rushing yards allowed (avg), behind Buffalo

#1 pass defense (yards per att), actually tied with SD and SF

#2 in 3rd down percentage behind Arizona.

And all this with Von Miller barely playing and Chris Harris yet to make an appearance. Frankly, this speaks to our depth as much as anything else.

Look - we all know any Manning offense will be fine. Our D left a lot to be desired last season statistically last year, which put lots of pressure on the O. For this team to be complete, the D needs to be able to carry their water. I believe that having Miller, Wolfe, Moore back plus the upgrades in Ware and Ward have made this D dominant - the pre-season has given us no reason to doubt.

There are areas of concern: we have not had as many sacks as I'd like to see, nor as many turnovers. 9 sacks in 4 games is league average, 4 ints in 4 games is pretty average as well.
