  • Is it EVER acceptable for BRONCOS FANS to call the team "Donkeys"?

We are having a mini-discussion in the tailgate forum, and I wanted to open it up to everyone else. The Denver "donkeys" is a term that opposing fans now use to insult the team. However, did anybody grow up using that as a term of endearment? I'm just curious. This COULD be a good educational lesson for me...

If only we had some racially-driven example like this. You know, like if there was a word that some race could use referring to themselves or others in their race but one that would be socially unacceptable for someone of another race to use.

        Oh well.

PS - Is the brother in your example actually retarded?

I don't like it. However it was a term of endearment back in the 60's when we were horrid. Anymore it's what opposing fans call us, and I am not aware of other sports teams that refer to their own in a disparaging way.

No. And if you keep doing it, I'm going to come to your house and take a dump on your azaleas.

I call them the Donk's when they are messing up or losing. It's acceptable.

When the Broncos look like crap or are going through a Josh McDaniels type melt-down, I am never offended when someone wearing a 1986 Denver Broncos AFC Champion shirt calls them the Donkeys.
