Should have gone with the background image of Belichick for the "palpably unfair act" slides.

Ha, wellllllll no **** considering the only time it can be done is at the end of half.

The "ten yard rule" I've never heard. I always thougt it was simply a free kick.

So if we decide before hand that we want a fair catch then we get to kick the ball from where we catch it and the D has to line up 10 yards back.

So if I read that right then if you are down by 3 and your kicker can put it threw the uprights on kickoffs and there is 5 seconds left in the game why haven't more teams tried this ? It has to be better odds then the Hail Mary.

Yeah, I think they did try it, or it was discussed during the game.

I would love to see the Broncos just once hand the ball back next season when they get scored on

The Broncos tried the fair catch/free kick once. I remember it semi-well. Red Miller's last year (I think). At home, end of 1st half, Fred Steinfort from 73 yards, which they said he had done a few times in practice. I got excited since that distance would be the NFL record by ten yards. He tried to give it an extra hard kick and ended up shanking it badly, maybe went 40 yards.

I've seen the fair catch field goal attempt once. Back in the 80s. The kick was missed.
