  • Not a hate crime?

This girl should be tried as an adult and it absolutely is a hate crime. Premeditated and filmed and then posted to YouTube.

Simple solution... Beat that 13 year old's ass.
Grandpa isn't getting it done. Little bad ass mother****ers these days.

Black on white is not a hate crime nor are racial slurs.

Unless the victim is black or homosexual and the suspect is a white guy there are no hate crimes.

I actually don't believe in hate crimes. I don't think "why" you commit a crime makes it worse. If someone shoots you because you are in the way, or they shoot you because they really don't like you, how does the fact they didn't like you for racial reasons or otherwise make it worse? I understand the arguments where there's a difference between 1st degree through manslaughter, but IMO the why shouldn't matter. Money, racism, spite, they were annoying - it should all be charged the same.

So if I kill you because you beat me my whole life and made me unstable and violent or if I kill you because you are a Mormon, you think those should receive equal weight?

I may be alone in my thinking but this girl is just 13, she has learned this behavior from someone. This person or persons that is teaching this behavior is the one guilty of the hate crime aspect. The 13 year old girl is guilty of assault but not sure at the young of age you can "hate"?

                  Yes.

Murder, abuse, domestic violence. Killing someone for being gay, black, white, muslim, mormon, whatever are motives. It does not make a murder more murdery if someone is killed for being gay or black or white or hispanic. The victim is not more dead because of it.

I agree with Kaylore. If you assault or murder someone for a specific reason it does not change the result.
Ignorance is ignorance regardless of the supposed reason.

If someone was to kill your child or your spouse, do you really care that they supposedly had a reason? Is that somehow going to make it better if it wasn't race or sex related?

If it can be proven that this girl beat the other girl up because she is white. Then yes it should be a hate crime.

I think you have to be careful about this stuff especially with minors. It also depends on injuries as a well. But there is no reason a 13 year-old should beat up a 10 year-old. That is for sure.

Actually, it does. If you beat someone up because he/she is gay that is worse than if you beat someone up because they cut you off in traffic. It just is.

OMG, get real. You're wanting a 13 year old to be charged as an adult for slapping around some girl for a few seconds. That's ridiculous. She should be tried as a 13 year old girl who beat up a 10 year old girl. I'm not sure what punishment that carries but that's how it should go down. Get out of here with tried as an adult for that crap.
