This guy was not drafted for Manning, he was drafted for the OZ era that is how smart Elway is. Latimer is a "fight for the ball' tough physical receiver, not the candy ass Decker was. Manning can make candy ass receivers work but Brock can not. Elway moved up in the second round to give OZ an insurance policy to lean on. What a move !!!

May be considered the steal of the draft before it's all over.

Oz will never amount to anything more than a 9 foot tall clipboard holder.

How do i know this? The same way people know that he is Manning's heir.

Hoping mcshay is right about this guy.

Oz should step in with the Ferrari of an offense that Griese had in '99.

Only problem with Oz is i think Manning could play out his contract and Oz would run out unless they would extend him before that.

Not a problem. If they think Oz is the heir apparent to Manning they will extend him if not they will let him walk.

#14 just looks weird. #10,#11,#15,#17 I can look at on a WR and see it fit.
The rest just seem weird and more QB than WR.

Latimer is going to be a good one though.

I haven't been this excited about a WR we drafted since bmarsh.

The roster # is high right now so these numbers are bound to change.

All the numbers from 10-19 are taken.

All the numbers from 80-89 are taken.

Doubt Latimer had much of a choice at the moment...I always think of Stokely when I see 14 on a jersey.

Roby is going to need a better # than 29 for a CB though. His only chance will be #20 (currently Boyett)...considering 21-28 will probably make the roster (24 not available obviously)...unless he wants to take a number in the 30-40's.

Well, he chose 14 over 87. I expect 86 and 82 to open up at the least.

He might have a chance at 11, 15, 19... All better numbers that 82 and 86 (86 looks like a TE number)

Elway doesn't draft for an "era." He's said this over and over and their draft strategy reflects their rehtoric. They stick to their board and pick the best players - not just now, but going forward. Elway's mantra has always been "Not to win now, but to win from now on." The one time you can consider and era pick was made was Osweiller himself on because he's the heir apparent. Especially with a Fox team, most of the rookies they take the staff will be patient with and start when they're ready.

Latimer won't see the field until training camp, but his size, speed and physicality means he's got a decent chance to dress just for special teams. Manning has made rookie receivers look amazing - like Anthony Gonzalez. So I think Latimer can contribute now as well as down the road.

I am curious to see how he plays. Unless you count Julius Thomas, this is the first upper-level receiver this front office has drafted. We'll see how they compare to Josh McDaniels.
