  • D'Qwell Jackson

Released by the Cleveland Browns. Would Elway try another stopgap or finally invest in youth at the MLB position. Thoughts

30 years old, plenty of years left unlike Brooking or Lenon

Browns have money and cap space? Do they have younger MLB to step in or is this a move made because he doesn't play well anymore?

It's not his play. Dude had 141 tackles last year and 75 of them unassisted.
He was due a 4 mil roster bonus + 2.4 mil in base salary.

Farmer is beginning to shape the team and is likely looking to get younger at MLB or they may not need a pure MLB in their next D scheme.

Browns D was very good last year. What am I missing on Jackson?

PFF had him 42 and 43rd the last two years on their scale -- I believe he has had a lot of missed tackles and poor coverage . . . might be wrong.

Bring him in. Use him on running downs.

He would fit the type of signing that Elway/Fox/JDR have pulled off this year but I think if he was worth it they would have paid him the roster bonus. That would be a big red flag to me. Plus in our D the last thing we need is a guy who misses tackles or takes bad angles.

Our LB's may not be physical monsters (other than Von maybe) but they rarely miss on open field tackles.

Would be instantly in the top 3 most physical guys on the team. Would upgrade our complete lack of ballsack on defense.
