This was the first mock I ever did when joining the OMane. I know I'm known on here as a toot my own horn kind of guy..
But this is two years in a row I have mocked a player we drafted, and called them both steals, considering their draft value and impact. Danny is proving me right, I just can't wait until Quanterus Smith proves me right!
I think Rahim is gonna be upper class (not elite) safety if he comes back 100%. And even with that I agree that safety (FA or draft) is our weakest position once we get ppl healthy again.
CB worries me less if we resign DRC. Champ, Harris, Carter, DRC, and an emerging Kayvon (for a rookie cb he did just fine).
From what I can tell, there aren't really any "blue chip" safeties in the upcoming draft.
There sure are a bunch of potential free agents, though. As of last week, that included Jarius Byrd, T.J. Ward, Donte Whitner and Chris Clemons, any one of whom could be a big upgrade.
Unfortunately, they'd all come with a hefty price tag.
More likely, the Broncos would aim for a 2d tier guy or a vet who had an off-season, due to injury or otherwise like Major Wright or Stevie Brown.
I like Danny but it seems like he lives off the big play. I'd rather draft a big, fast LB and then go with Woodyard and Von, with Danny coming in when they go two tight ends.
If Harvin starts to do damage I think we could play him with some bracket coverage. Use Travethon underneath with someone like Tony Carter over the top.
Both have speed to stay with him.
Golden Tate is fast, but not really a deep threat because he isn't explosive. It takes him some time to get to speed. I think Bailey can take him 1 on 1.
Then put DRC on Baldwin who is prob best on the team getting behind defenses.
They really don't have a great attack to Zach Miller at TE that I have seen.
Let the safety's help where needed and stopping the run.
