  • The Emergence of Danny Trevathan

Good article on SI.com regarding Trevathan's emergence on our defense. Also discusses some draft tidbits that caused him to fall to us in the 6th round. We get lucky with 'backers in Kentucky.

Now if we could just get a good MIKE to group him and Von with next season our front 7 could really look good.

      If that happened...

Safety is a much bigger need.

His career started to take off just about the time he got that free stuffed tiger from Exxon.

I agree completely, I've just wanted a good MIKE since we lost Wilson

If Harvin starts to do damage I think we could play him with some bracket coverage. Use Travethon underneath with someone like Tony Carter over the top.

Both have speed to stay with him.

Golden Tate is fast, but not really a deep threat because he isn't explosive. It takes him some time to get to speed. I think Bailey can take him 1 on 1.

Then put DRC on Baldwin who is prob best on the team getting behind defenses.

They really don't have a great attack to Zach Miller at TE that I have seen.

Let the safety's help where needed and stopping the run.

I like Danny but it seems like he lives off the big play. I'd rather draft a big, fast LB and then go with Woodyard and Von, with Danny coming in when they go two tight ends.

With Moore suffering the bad injury I would say the Broncos now feel it's far enough removed from drafting moore and carter to try again.

I'd prefer just a good vet at this point.

Broncos most likely will be right back in contender mode next yr. Rookies may not help fast enough to suit Elway next offseason.

From what I can tell, there aren't really any "blue chip" safeties in the upcoming draft.

There sure are a bunch of potential free agents, though. As of last week, that included Jarius Byrd, T.J. Ward, Donte Whitner and Chris Clemons, any one of whom could be a big upgrade.

Unfortunately, they'd all come with a hefty price tag.

More likely, the Broncos would aim for a 2d tier guy or a vet who had an off-season, due to injury or otherwise like Major Wright or Stevie Brown.

I think Rahim is gonna be upper class (not elite) safety if he comes back 100%. And even with that I agree that safety (FA or draft) is our weakest position once we get ppl healthy again.

CB worries me less if we resign DRC. Champ, Harris, Carter, DRC, and an emerging Kayvon (for a rookie cb he did just fine).

We traded Tim Tebow for Danny Trevathan and another draft pick. Damn we won.

What a steal, he was easily one of the best linebackers in the NFL this year.

I'm curious if we re-sign Woodyard now.

They play the same position so my guess is they don't.

Who'd have thunk it? The 2 most impactful players from the 2012 draft are the last 2 that we drafted.....

                              Rd 2 (36) - Derek Wolfe
                              Rd 2 (57) - Twilight
                              Rd 3 (67) - Ronnie Hillman
                              Rd 4 (101) - Omar Bolden
                              Rd 4 (108) - Philip Blake
                              Rd 5 (137) - Malik Jackson
                              Rd 6 (188) - Danny Trevathan
