  • Charger Fans "know" they will "destroy Denver easily"

Holy crap it's almost unanimous. And on multiple forums.

I am surprised at how easily they believe we're going to roll over for them. I mean some of these comments aren't even taking us seriously. I certainly hope the Boltz start reading their own press clippings this week.

I mean the playoffs is more about who's hot. And the Boltz have caught lightning in a bottle (pun intended). It will take our biggest effort to win, but I think we'll be up for it.

    Some points they are making:
    • Manning has never defeated the Boltz in the playoffs.
    • Manning has been one and done in the playoffs 8 times in is career.
    • They beat us in Denver.
    • 6 seeds are 6-2 in the last six years against number one seeds.
    • They played the Eagles in their opener so magic dictates they are going to win the super Bowl.
    • Rivers is 6-2 in Denver all time.

Most of that stuff is anecdotal hogwash. For example I really don't think getting to play Philly magically makes you win the Super Bowl. I also think Rivers' record in Denver has as much to do with us being terrible for the five of his eight seasons he's played us here. Manningis 3-1 against the Chargers as a Bronco.

I do have some concern with the fact that the playoffs is more about getting hot and believing at the right time than how good you were in the regular season. But that doesn't mean we can't come out hot too.

I guess after the first week and a big win when you're considered underdogs you can get pretty excited. But I am kind of surprised.

Wasn't Vick the QB for the Eagles when the season started?

I feel that when we lost to the Chuggers, it was aptly timed so that we didn't go into the playoffs thinking we were invincible.

      Revenge is so much sweeter.

I totally agree. That loss was actually one of the best things that happened to this team because they came out of it dominant.

If the Chargers even made it to the Super Bowl, they'd be the fourth team to ever do it.

I think the Broncos need to look at the Chargers as what they are: A not very talented team that is playing very well. Our 22 are better than theirs. Period. And for all their ripping on our defense (which has played a lot better, lately) they don't have any playmakers on defense. I guess we'll see. If they come here and destroy us, I will eat my crow. I really don't believe they will, though.

It will remain empty after the playoffs are over. Not worried, one iota.

I feel incredibly uneasy about this game. This I s the team I didn't want. They're red hot. We're banged up beyond all belief. They should be feeling confident. I would be if I were a fan of that team.

I felt uneasy last year against the Ravens. Against the Chargers next week? Nah.

Sandy Eggo has been hot because they've been in do or die mode for 5 weeks now. It's just a fact. When you HAVE to have it, you play harder. That's how sports seem to work. The Charger HAD to have the last game and we were just playing for seeding. And as many have said, it was a nice wake up call for this team. We needed to get angry after a loss and have that mentality. And teams can obviously catch fire fast and get hot, but they can also lose that fire just as fast. Cincy had them going IMO and that fumble near the endzone changed the entire game. If Cincy scores there, I think they would have won. We just need to avoid huge negative momentum changing plays.

Omg, you guys are being dramatic. SD beat us last time while getting everything to go their way. Their mediocre/bad defense held Denver to three straight 3 & outs, only time it happened this yr. Our stud WR's finished with 10 catches combined. We bailed them out numerous times with an offsides on 4th and shirt, and 12 men on the field.

Frankly what I'm saying is we have had 15 weeks where we've played great on offense and we had one bad outing against a rival coming on a short week after a really tough stretch of games. It happens folks.

Sure, SD could beat us but it's highly unprobable. Maybe SD plays light out. It will take Denver shooting itself in the foot again and again like we did last time. Not likely.

they don't have any playmakers on defense. I guess we'll see.
Ingram? He is playing really good an is the imporant player for them. with the rest i agree.

the chargers do not have equal talent with denver. denver is the better team. but san diego for some reason has everything going their way in the last games. missed 41 yd fg (refs do not see the illegal formationen, fumble on the fake punt that was not called). they are very similar to the giants and ravens the last years.

buttom line is we have to bring or A game on all four phases. offense, defense, st and coaching.

                        Three Keys for me
                        a) Win the TOP. In Both Games San Diego controlled the clock. that always worked in PO against Manning. so we have to get manning on the field and must controll there running game.
                        b) No stupid mistakes. ok that is always important, but against the chargers you can not do that. dalton handed them the game. so did denver in the last meeting. there are smart coached and will not shot temselve in the foot.
                        c) get ready for playoff football. the games over the last weekend shoed, that the refs are much more willing to let the players play (wich is a good thing in my view). so decker and co. battle all day long.

Clearly McCoy is a smart man and having worked with manning last year. Could he know ourtendencies well enough to hog tie the offense. I think its a very real possibility

Bunch formations. Short passing with yac. WRs need to win their matchups especially DT.

Stop the run on D period. Last game they went for almost 200 while we had about 20.

If they drop 7 and 8, we have to hit our short routes and catch the ball while running the ball well too.

Interesting. Somebody posted Manning's playoff 1 and done scores. Besides the 02 Jets game he has lost by less than a TD in every other game.
