    Yards are such an overrated stat. Fitz is #2. It's partly or almost exclusively due to years. Bruce was in the league 4 years longer than Smith. So this appears to another "longevity" thing. Both WR's from the team that won 1 SB after Denver are in the HOF (Holt deserves it and not for yards) . Denver.....nada.

      Stats are counted for a reason though. It may be an imperfect measure but it helps separate players and allow for comparison. Atwater and Gradishar I fully understand the gripes. There is nothing to gripe about with Smith vs Bruce.

      Hell, just being excellent for a few years would have a ton of players in the HOF if longevity wasn't important. Sustained excellence matters.
