                    As bad as it looks, I don’t see how they could rule differently. I don’t see how one can legislate a franchise’s personnel moves from the outside, determine which prospect is ready or not ready. Only a franchise should make that decision.

                    However, that doesn’t change the fact the Cubs burned their relationship with Bryant from the beginning over savings that they could easily afford. It likely cost them a chance to keep an iconic player that led them to the 2016 title and one they could easily afford.

                    It’s like arbitration, I don’t see why teams take adversarial stances with players when they are on the same side. Acting in good faith has residual effect down the road that benefits both parties.
