  • So how does KC lose this weekend?

We know it is going to happen... 50 years of futility has to continue.....

Tennessee jumps to lead and Henry punishes KfC defense for over 200 yards.

At the buzzer KC misses 52 yard FG.

    Tennessee 26-24

Chef fan goes back to trailer park and beats family.....

To me, it all starts and ends with Henry. If the Chefs can’t hold him below 130 or so yards rushing, the Titans are going to win. Again.

I’m not going to predict the Chiefs to lose, as this has turned out to be their easiest road to the Super Bowl ever. That said, if the Titans can run for 200 yards, get a 40/20 TOP advantage, and make some key stops/get some turnovers, I do think they can win a close one against the Chiefs.

The titans need to score first & hope KC comes out with a another slow start. KC game-plan is pretty simple, score somewhere in the 30s in the first half and force Tannehill to throw more essentially shutting down Henry.
BTW, D. Henry had 188 yds in their last meeting and it took 1 botched FG & a blocked FG to win that game. Titans got lucky in the last meeting.

KC left about 14-20 points on the field last time they met with all the mistakes and happenstance of that game. We aren't losing to the Titans.

You know that isn't how it works. Each match-up is it's own beast. Take 2012, Denver was statistically better than 2019 KC in all categories, punked Baltimore in Baltimore 34-17 only 2 weeks earlier, and lost.

It's not like Tennessee played their perfect game last time either. They fumbled the ball in scoring territory, missed an extra point. The blocked FG was for OT as well, not the win. Making that kick didn't guarantee a victory.

This is a really interesting match-up when you break it down. For all the flash and stats of NE and Baltimore, they gave up 4.4 and 4.2 yards per rush through the season. Because everyone is gearing up to stop the pass....or stops running because they are behind. NE only gave up 3.3 Yards per carry against the Titans, but Tenn remained patient with it and ground them down. Tannehil only attempted 16 total passes, and it was by design.

Vrabel is like Bill B. He doesn't play for style points, he plays for victory.

Houston rushed for 4.5 yards a carry, but what happened when they got their big lead? Well, we already know about the botched fake punt, followed by a fumble. Then after the 21 point flurry, does Houston try to slow things down and halt the momentum at the end of the half? Nope, 5 passing plays, 1 running play...hand the ball right back to KC while they are cruising with almost 3 full minutes on the clock.

KC Allowed 4.9 yards per carry for the season. The Titans could grind it out again.

In the end KC should win this game, but it's not out of the realm of possibility for them to lose if Tenn eats the clock and limits KC's possessions.

The point I’m making is the best way for KC to shut down D. Henry is to score TDs early & take the Titans out of their game plan. If KC can get up 14 early, they’ll force Tennessee to throw more. Grinding out the clock is great when you are ahead, but it’s your enemy when you’re behind. KC has proven they can score at will.

The Chefs are a bunch of whiny ponces. Vrabel's team will knock the snot out of them.

Cold day forecast for KC Sunday with high in low 20s, dropping into teens during game. A plus for Henry & Titans running game?

Mahomes QB rating in freezing temps is high. This isn't a factor.

                        The Chiefs are whiny now?

Do any of you actually watch games?

Bwaha. He rushes for 130 every game.

I suppose it's not a problem that they allowed 530 yards last time at home? I have little doubt that KC will contain Henry better than last time. There are pieces available now that weren't then. Is there any reason to think Mahomes isn't going to torch that defense?

Every bounce went their way, and what should have been a comfortable KC win turned into a fluke last-second loss. Expecting it to happen again in KC is funny stuff.

first drive they score a TD and then stop the Titans
Next drive they have 2nd and 6 from the 16 & Mahomes hits Kelce four his second TD of the day but they call it back for offensive pass interference on Hill (it was correct call) The very next play Cam Erving gets beat and grabs Landry and the officials call holding so a would be TD becomes 2nd and 26. At that point 2nd and 26 becomes 3rd and 17 and Kelce catches a pass and ends up about 3 yards short of the first so they give up a 14‐0 lead and are only up 10‐0
That’s 4 points off the board.

Chiefs start the next drive on their own 8, still up 10-0. Note that KC has already racked up 5 penalties at this point. Mahomes, back in action for the first time since the kneecap injury, overthrows an open Hill for a would be long TD. 2 plays later Watkins drops a what should be a 1st down. Chiefs punt.
That’s 11 points left off the board.

Cheifs at this point give up a quick Titans TD, and proceed to get their 6th penalty on the ensuing kickoff, so start on their own 15. With 6:25 left in the second quarter, Damien Williams fumbles. The Titans return it for a TD. Chiefs now trail 13-10. Titans miss XP.

On the next drive, KC already starting 2 backup linemen for this game, lost starting RT Mitchell Schwartz when backup LT Cam Erving completely whiffs on a block VS Landry. Mahomes gets drilled and inadvertently injures Schwartz. The very next play after that, Schwartz replacement at RT, Martinas Rankins, is lost for the year tearing his ACL. KC is now rolling with 4 backups at OL.

Right before the half, Frank Clark drops a would be INT that was right in his hands at the Titans 40 yard line with 24 seconds left in the half. KC had 3 Time outs….might have possibly gotten into FG range before half wich would have tied game.
Possibly 14 points left on the field at this point.
Chiefs are leading in yardage by 140 yards at halftime.

Titans start 2nd half with ball and have to punt.
Chiefs drive down the field and score a TD. Butker misses the XP. That’s 15 points left on field now.
Titans next drive, Henry busts long TD run. Titans convert XP and take 20-19 lead.
There are now 5 minutes remaining in 3rd Q. At this point Mahomes is 28/35 for 280 and 2 TD.
Another 3rd down drop. DeMarcus Robinson drops ball. 4 and 2 from KC 25. Punt.
With just over 6 minutes left in the game, Mahomes has no gone 33/44 for 379 and 3TD’s. Tony Romo actually makes the call KC is going to blow it. (F U Tony!)

With 12 minutes left in game now, Mahomes with his 3rd TD of the game. XP is good. KC leads 29-20.
Titans score on ensuing drive to cut lead to 29-27. KC D is getting winded at this point.
Next drive, Chiefs have the all 1st and 10 at Titans 22. 2nd and 8 Hill drop. 3rd and 8, Hill another drop at the goal line. Cheifs kick FG. Leave another 4 points on the field. That’s 18 now. KC Kicks FG with 3:19 left to increase lead to 32-27.
Tennesee fails to convert 4th and 17 on ensuing drive. KC gets ball back with 1:48 left on TENN 32 yard line. After a couple of runs, and TENN using it’s timeouts, KC faces 3rd and 2 with 1:27 left. Broken play. Mahomes sacked. KC attempts field goal that would extend lead to 38 to 27. Botched snap. Holder tries to throw pass, called for INT grounding. With 1:21 left, TEN goes down the field, scores TD with 23 seconds left to take 35-32 lead.
Mahomes with 23 seconds left and 2 TO, promptly moves KC fro their own 38 to the TEN 34 in 3 plays. Butkers 52 yard attempt to tie game is blocked.

KC incurs 9 pentalties for 90 yards. has key drops at bad times. a fumble returned for a TD, a botched FG, and a blocked FG. Started game with 2 backup OL, finsiehbd with 4 back up OL.

                              Lost by 3.

That COULD happen again....but it won't.
