  • Grade Hallmark Vic’s first season

Grade Vic Fangio’s first season with the Broncos.

Personally, he gets a B. Rough start to the season with 4 losses and dysfunction at QB, Middle linebacker was a sieve, lack of sacks, defense unable to close games etc. It was pretty tough to watch those four games.

lt all turned around pretty quickly at the end of that skid. Personnel on the field changed over time, Alexander Johnson stepped up at ILB. Players started buying in and stepping up. talented QB with most comes in and fixes the morale etc.

Finished 4-1 and have good momentum going into next season.

I vote B... Met my expectations. Even exceeded some on the D side of the Ball. He ID'd some good talent to bring in as well.

Next year my expectations include a WC spot and a winning division record.

C passing grade for the ROOKIE HC.

If he is not going to be in the booth, he needs to be more than a garret on the sidelines !
His podium skills need alot of work too but that's the least of my worries.
clock management and late game decision making biggest area in need of improvement.
EDIT : #1 red zone DEFENSE, I change my score to c +

I'd give him a B-. The team has roster holes all over the place and Fangio had to overcome significant injuries which impeded what he could do defensively. There were some questionable in game decisions, but overall there is hope and significant improvement over VJ's cluster****,

Considering the OL he had, 3 different QBs, significant injuries on the defense, he did well. 7-9 with 2 games taken away by the refs and afew more reality close losses

He needs to develop a killer attitude though. Needs to stop giving up leads.

Personally I like Fangio’s straightforward pressers. It’s like watching Ace Rothstein from Casino answering dumb questions from the media.

Much better than his predecessor who just rambles on.

VIcs incompetence had a hand in those close losses.
poor time management, clock manegement, use of time outs and challenges.

                B

D first half based on poor management in close losses, Staying with Flacco, handling Locks practice management etc. elevated his grade to a B 2nd half by adapting/learning/etc.

the only thing as good as honesty is discretion. I too am glad that honesty comes naturally, but discretion being the best of valor is a cliche for a reason.
VIC is mean enough to be honest, I woiuld like to see him smart enough to be discreet.

i like him. but his gameday sidelines coaching is a work in progress for sure. it's been staggering bad at times. vance level bad. team never stopped playing for him though and he showed his coaching made even street free agents look passable.

I give him a B. He did a very good job with the defense even as they suffered a bunch of injuries, and didn’t really have the ideal personnel for his system. His game management was rough though. I don’t hold him responsible for the crappy offense.

I went with C , mainly because the first half of the season was, at best, a D. Yes we had injuries and stuff but his decisions cost us a couple of those early games. Players have to play but coaches have to have the right guys in the right positions and 3 man rushes late in games led to bad results. Head coach needs to tell the O coordinator to ATTACK all game long. He did better late but still has a way to go . Letting McAnus talk him into the kick was another brain fart. Fangio is the coach...it was his decision alone and McAnus has shown a tendency to be overconfident and want to try ridiculous things. He hasn't hit even 60 yards in a long time, in a game.....

Anyway, Fangio won't make that mistake again, so a B in the second half and D in the first is a C.

gets a B. Good end to the season bumped it up. Expected 6 wins and got 7 and saw flashes from Lock. Defense looked good and should improve next year with the injured players coming back (Jano, Chubb, Callahan, Bausby, etc.)

If you compare to VJ, probably an A.
