  • Estimated Salaries on Broncos Free Agents

As we speed forward and the off season becomes the present I was thinking about the next group of new Broncos players and who would add something to this incredibly depressing team I can't watch this season. I also realized one of the reasons I am overly optimistic on the team stems from a tendency to rewatch a highlight play in real time more than once and then turn off games with a quarter to play when I sneak a peak at the score and see we lost. This leaves me with a biased view where I think the players are better than the truth.

    Broncos Free Agents
Player Pos. Type Snaps Age Current APY Guarantees Estimated Salary
    Justin Simmons S UFA 100% 27 $756,855 $645,420 14,200,000
    Shelby Harris 34DE UFA 56.60% 29 $3,095,000 $0 8,000,000
    Connor McGovern C UFA 100% 27 $650,975 $263,900 7,000,000
    Derek Wolfe 34DE UFA 66.80% $30 $9,175,000 $12,000,000 10,000,000
    Chris Harris, Jr. CB UFA 99.20% 31 $12,050,000 $1,625,000 12,000,000
    Adam Gotsis 34DE UFA 31.20% 28 $984,476 $1,738,928 2,000,000

    Devontae Booker RB UFA 1.40% 28 $613,348 $383,392
Above are the Broncos Free Agents. I tried to tier them and see where I thought their 2020 salary would fit in. Harris and McGovern may be higher if they are targeted by a team but very likely especially McGovern could also see a salary of just over the Veteran Minimum if teams sign someone else first and he is the last guy when the music stops. Wolfe could also get strong armed into less money but over paying him on a short deal today is a better option. Harris Jr is probably going to over estimate his worth. My guess is his tape as a #1 corner is less than awesome, he is also not young anymore. When he signed his last deal he was the highest paid #2 corner in the NFL. While he outplayed every other #2 corner since that deal. He is not the walk away press corner that gets the huge money. In My Opinion he did not take some amazing hometown discount he was paid what he was worth.

An outside Players I would like to see looked out.
    Rashard Higgins Browns 25 $2,025,000 $2,025,000 $0 $0 2020 UFA
Former Colorado State WR. Had looked like he was getting it going last year before the Browns brought in OBJ. A solid 2 year deal could be just what he needs to show what he can bring.

Lmao at them not extending Simmons yet. They wait until the market decides their contract?

his agent will now want more than Byards contract. Not that he will get it but other teams will make bigger offers.

Harris is gone so he doesn’t count. There’s not one other player on that list worth a damn. Shelby maybe but throwing big money at a rotational player isn’t ideal. That’s an ugly list of players due to a dumbass GM drafting like ****.

There are 2 sides though. Simmons has to agree to a contract. You have to believe the Broncos have tried. Now if they have given him a fair offer or not, I don't know.

I’m confident they haven’t even approached him on a number. Just my opinion and based off all past situations.

another safety on this team has a 14M cap hit next year already.

Guaranteed $ and # of years (four vs. five-year contract) are probably the sticking points as to why a deal hasn't been done. Parameters have been discussed.

I would let CHj walk, I think he's lost a (small) step this year and he'll be looking for at least a 3 if not a 4 year deal.
