  • The way Way WAY TOO Early pre training camp depth chart. LOL

Quarterbacks: I think the Broncos will keep 2 or 3 QB's. But it'll depend on 2 things. How good or bad Lock plays this Pre-season. If Lock is everything we hope he is it'll be easy and Broncos keep only 2. If Lock plays like a Rookie then Broncos will probably keep Hogan as the 3rd and game day active emergency QB.

    5 Joe Flacco

    3 Drew Lock

    ----------Locks to make the team----------

    4 Brett Rypien

    9 Kevin Hogan

Running Backs: This group seems pretty set. Booker gets the last spot having the most experience and solid in pass pro.

    30 Phillip Lindsay

    28 Royce Freeman

    23 Devontae Booker

    32 Andy Janovich (FB)

    ----------Locks to make the team----------

    39 George Aston

    48 Devontae Jackson

    33 Khalfani Muhammad

Wide Receivers: I think the Broncos will keep 5-6 WR. According to Andrew Mason, of 760 Orange and Blue radio, Langley has displayed incredible speed but raw in his route running. Cracraft can field punts. Its going to come down to Special Teams between Cracraft, Langley, and Winfree.

    14 Courtland Sutton

    10 Emmanuel Sanders

    17 DaeSean Hamilton

    81 Tim Patrick

    ----------Locks to make the team----------

    15 Juwann Winfree

    2 Trinity Benson

    19 Fred Brown

    13 Aaron Burbridge

    11 River Cracraft

    83 Romell Guerrier

    16 Kelvin McKnight

    12 Brandan Langley

Tight Ends: Broncos will for sure keep 3 TE's. But that would mean that either Butt or Fumagalli gets cut. The only way that the Broncos will be able to keep 4 TE's is that the Broncos put Butt on IR this year and keep Fumagalli. Then cut Heuerman next year.

    87 Noah Fant

    82 Jeff Heuerman

    ----------Locks to make the team----------

    80 Jake Butt

    84 Troy Fumagalli

    89 Austin Fort

    85 Bug Howard

Offensive Linemen: Broncos will probably keep 9-10 linemen. Last year Broncos used all of their backups by the end of the season due to injury. Will Billy Turner gone it one less quality Broncos will be able to call on. There are 7 locks to make this team leaving 2, maybe 3 spots left. Don Barclay has the most experience and starts with 25 over a 7 year career.

    72 Garett Bolles OT

    70 Ja'Wuan James OT

    65 Ronald Leary OG

    66 Dalton Risner OG

    60 Connor McGovern C

    70 Sam Jones OG

    68 Elijah Wilkinson OT

    ----------Locks to make the team----------

    75 Quinn Bailey T

    67 Don Barclay OL

    64 Jake Brendel C

    63 Ryan Crozier C

    79 Chaz Green OT

    62 Nathan Jacobson OT

    73 John Leglue OG

    69 Jake Rodgers OT

    71 Austin Schlottmann OG

Defensive Linemen: Broncos will keep 6 Defensive Linemen. With 5 locks to make this team, that only leaves 1 spot up for grabs. I feel bad for DeMarcus Walker. 2 of his years wasted by a coaching staff that tried to force him in an OLB roll that he wasn't suited for. Now he's got to try and make this team going back to his natural position as a Defensive Linemen, but after the Broncos drafted Dre'Mont Jones. Its seems from the roster moves that the Broncos have made that Fangio favors a 1 gap penetrating type Defensive linemen. I'd look for the last spot to go to this type of player with the ability to play Special teams.

    95 Derek Wolfe

    99 Adam Gotsis

    96 Shelby Harris

    93 Dre'Mont Jones

    92 Zach Kerr

    ----------Locks to make the team----------

    98 Mike Purcell

    78 Deyon Sizer

    57 DeMarcus Walker

    97 DeShawn Williams

    90 Billy Winn

Linebackers: Typically Broncos keep 8 Linebackers. The 4 base defensive starters will make this team. Broncos drafted Hollins and traded for Dakota Johnson. That makes 6. AJ Johnson in an important Special Team ace, so he's making the team. That leaves 1 spot left.

    55 Bradley Chubb OLB

    58 Von Miller OLB

    51 Todd Davis ILB

    47 Josey Jewell ILB

    52 Justin Hollins OLB/ILB

    56 Dakota Johnson OLB/ILB

    45 A.J. Johnson LB

    ----------Locks to make the team----------

    94 Ahmad Gooden OLB

    40 Keishawn Bierria ILB

    53 Joe Dineen ILB

    46 Jeff Holland OLB

    43 Joseph Jones ILB

    59 Malik Reed OLB

    50 Aaron Wallace OLB

    54 Josh Watson ILB

Defensive Backs: Broncos usually keep 10 DB's on the team. Harris and Callahan are locks as starters. I put Kareem Jackson at Safety since he has spent most of OTA's and mini camp playing there. Simmons and is the Broncos other starting safety. Parks has been so versatile and in a contract year I see him making the team. Yiadom is a high draft pick that is still learning how to play in the NFL. He'll be on the roster come week 1. That leaves 4 spots up for grabs.

    25 Chris Harris CB

    29 Bryce Callahan CB

    31 Justin Simmons S

    22 Kareem Jackson S

    41 Isaac Yiadom CB

    34 William Parks S

    ----------Locks to make the team----------

    21 Su'a Cravens

    20 Jamal Carter

    49 Alijah Holder

    39 Trey Johnson

    36 Trey Marshall

    38 Horace Richardson

    37 Linden Stephens

    35 Dymonte Thomas

    38 Shamarko Thomas

    41 De'Vante Bausby

    Specialists

    8 Brandon McManus K

    3 Colby Wadman P

    42 Casey Kreiter LS

    ----------Locks to make the team----------

Need a new punter. Wadman has a horrendous net yard, and 2nd to last in the league in avg.

that should never happen with 8 games in Denver. I don’t want to hear air doesn’t affect it cause I see visiting punters blasting it every single game. Constantly being outpunted at home is unacceptable.

I hope Langley shows up as a good WR.
That dude is fast. Would be nice to have a 4.3-4.4 speedster that can catch and run routes and isn't afraid to be physical. (Got to wait till camp to see if he can learn his route trees and responsibilities. But he looked good catching according to reports so far, which at this point is almost meaningless really... But hope that dude shows up.)

I am also hoping Rypien shines & earns a spot without getting poached. Lock & Rypien both doing well and being kept would make me very happy.

I don't yearn to have to hope on Hogan as the just in-case. Rather just throw it on two rookies if Flacco went down. I hate to admit it, but Hogan is another Seimian. Just good enough to hang around and coach likes him. So I'm thinking Rypien might be another Sloter type situation where he could ball out and get cut then poached before making it to the practice squad. I hope he does so well he knocks Hogan out of the race all together.

And I also don't understand why we have no punter competition. Wadman is okay, but he should have to earn his job.

Pretty sure Holland has a chance of making the team because the Broncos released AJ Johnson last November to make room for Jeff Holland...

Awesome job and thanks for posting - not really too too early given that TC is in 2-3 weeks and the roster is set for now. March/Feb is too early perhaps but once the draft is over let the speculation begin I say!

I am wondering if you should separate out the OLBs from the ILBs though. I think Holland has a better chance than most to make the team as a situational edge rusher, especially with Shaq Barrett having moved on, whereas I'm not sure that the other OLBs have the same pass-rush credentials so will need to get by on generic LB play and/or special teams.

I'm more than happy to be corrected on this however - I don't really know much about our LBs outside of the main four starters, would be good to hear opinions from you or other posters about some of the other backup guys on the outside.... can they get to the QB?

I see Joseph Jones making the team for ST over AJ Johnson. He was kept on the roster all last year and has that crazy athleticism you want in a couple of ST players.

Johnson was signed to the practice squad after clearing waivers last november and then signed a reserve/future contract in January. If you go to the official roster on the team website, he's there.

                          https://www.denverbroncos.com/team/players-roster/

Joe Jones was the one who replaced Todd Davis with the starters when Davis missed practice due to the birth of his child.

                          https://www.denverbroncos.com/news/notes-from-broncos-minicamp-day-1

... ILB Todd Davis did not practice to be with his wife as she delivered their baby. Joe Jones took his place on the No. 1 defense alongside Josey Jewell.

Dont mind him. He gets offended by opinions so I can see why he came into this thread to cry and whine about no value.
