  • 2019 Season Predictions Thread

It’s the offseason, so might as well start throwing out our baseless predictions for next season right? Here are mine:

    1) The Broncos will be more consistently competitive but will ultimately go 8-8 due to a tough schedule and a good number of close losses (point 2 will play a huge factor in this).

    2) Flacco will suck, and Lock will end up replacing him by the end of the season.

    3) Fangio will have some trouble with the ILB position, and covering TEs and RBs will continue to be the defense’s biggest weakness.

    4) Lock will flash in his limited time as a rookie but will also have some really ugly plays, and we will all spend the 2020 offseason arguing over if we should trade up in the draft to get another QB or give Lock a full season as the starter.

    I'm always up for Predictions.

    1) Goodell will offer the Saints two free penalties in the week 2 match up against the Rams if they will just shut the **** up about the NFC game already.

    2) By week seven several different spa chains will release a public statement asking Boston fans to stop requesting the "Craft" package.

    3) Ed Hochuli comes of retirement for one game, then promptly tears an ACL while vigorously signaling an illegal motion penalty.

    4) By week 9 the NFL will release a statement asking Bears fans to stop referring to controversial referee penalties that go against their team as Smolletts.

            1. Broncos, are likely to actually be a better team than they were last year, but due to the brutal schedule and the QB situation, the record will be worse. 4-12.

            2. Flacco retains his starting spot as the team doesn't win, even though Flacco will be basically doing what he was brought in to do....manage the game, don't turn it over.

            3. Due to point 2..Lock doesn't get a very long look in the regular season, dissapointing the fans.

            4. Kansas City will sweep the Broncos again en-route to a 15-1 regular season record culminating in a super bowl championship. Mahomes suffers a "slump" and only goes 44 TD with 4900 yards passing. Both career lows.

                    1) Agree on the 8-8 but the losses will be due to a mediocre defense.

                    2) I think at some point Lock will play.

                    3) Totally agree on trouble with the ILB position but also the safety position. Having nightmares about the Shanahan time period and Nick Ferguson and Sam Brandon.

                    4) Lock may flash in his initial start but will struggle afterward, if there is an afterward this season, and I will still be dreaming about the 2021 (or 2022) draft and Trevor Lawrence.

Think Chargers did a very good job this off season for their defense and Oakland too, which surprised me and then realized it was Mayock. Still think Oakland will struggle somewhat. KC's season is still up in the air depending on whether or not they hit on the defensive players.

                      7-9

we start out 2-6, but finish the year 5-3.

Flacco injured or benched by week 12. Really, any time from week 1 to week 12 is a possibility.

Both sides of the ball are improved and show signs of what they will be going forward, but suffer growing pains from new systems this year. Consistency and mental lapses or assignment breakdowns occur. That combined with Flacco's play ultimately cost the team 3 or 4 games.

Sanders' play falls off a cliff, half as a result to aging half as a result of poor QB play. Sutton and Lock show immediate chemistry.

Josey Jewell, Justin Simmons, and Isaac Yiadom take huge leaps forward in their play defensively. Garrett Bolles, Connor McGovern and Royce Freeman offensively.

Our 2019 rookie class makes good on the 'A' draft grades they have received this far. 2018 continues their upward trajectory.

We cut Flacco after the season and head into the 2020 offseason with $80m in cap space, the 14th pick in the draft, and 4 picks in the top 80. We come into 2020 ready to make noise.

9-7; miss out on playoffs on a tie-breaker. Better than expected O-Line and running game with clock control. Flacco decent system QB with 22TD/11 Int.; Defense steady, aggressive; more sacks and turnovers by not playing from behind so much.

This is what I’m anticipating as well. Cleaner football but not yet a complete roster. Sort of like Bills football the past few seasons under McDermit.
