    5. Is this an indictment of the rookie class?

A good nugget here from Eric Edholm of Pro Football Weekly, providing some breadcrumbs to follow: Elway apparently told Missouri quarterback Drew Lock that he’d be a top-10 pick at the Senior Bowl. The Broncos hold a top-10 pick. Is this trade a reflection of how Elway sees the top of the draft lining up ahead of him (meaning, does he think a few passers will be taken with picks one through nine), or is he just hedging his bets?

Let’s follow one scenario all the way through: Imagine this means the Broncos are all-in with Flacco and do not take a quarterback at 10 (Broncos beat writer Ryan O’Halloran mentioned offensive line and cornerbacks as the highest positions on their wish list). That leaves two teams—the Giants and the Jaguars—as kind-of-sort-of destinations for the best two rookie passers in the draft and only a handful of other teams (Washington, Miami, New England, Tennessee) who may be even remotely interested in the first round.

If nothing else, this move is a strong cup of coffee for the where-is-Kyler-Murray-landing crowd.

Maybe Elway is playing 3D Chess and he’s still going to go get Lock.
        It’s all I have left.

They're probably gonna draft a QB, it's just how high. They'll cut/trade Keenum if they're lucky. No other QB's behind them.

It's just is it a 1st round QB or a QB in the 2nd-3rd rounds? But yeah i was hoping we'd just roll with Keenum and draft a QB at 10/trade up. Now i dont even know.

Why do you guys feel like getting Flacco lowers any plan of getting a QB?

It may be an indictment of this QB class at best which is a good decision if so.

This QB class is fine, but it's too early to tell if they take a QB high or not.

So Elway knows Keesum can’t run Musgraves offense let alone Fangs, so hes bringing in Joe to run it and then drafts Lock to sit like Mahomes behind Smith for a year.
It’s all we have now, Boss.

I think Elway is thinking two thngs - 1) He believe the team can win now, 2) Lock is one he wants, but will be gone before he has chance to get him.

I’m not asking for your opinion on QB class, I’m presenting a scenario on possible evaluations by our staff of this QB class (maybe relative to next year).

We dont know what the staff thinks of this QB class. They could think it's good, they could think it stinks.

They've barely had time to look at them, they probably saw tape of Keenum and thought no way we can have him back next year.

In truth, the Flacco trade does not truly eliminate any options due to him not having any guaranteed money left.

But trading a pick for him plus his cap hit and the likely fit for the projected offense creates a different expectation level.
