  • Woody Paige sits down with Fangio

...Of his (Fangio's Bears) victory over the Rams, "they couldn't run the football. And if they can’t run with Gurley or (C.J. Anderson), they aren’t very good. (Bill) Belichick) knew that. I wasn't surprised about what happened in the Super Bowl." The Patriots did as the Bears and held the Rams without a touchdown in a 13-3 triumphant effort...

Excuse the cross-post, didn't see the other Paige/Fangio thread that went out about the same time.

And that is why the Patriots are so damn consistent. They do not care about making up their own damn way to beat people. They just copied the plan Fangio had already used to perfection against them.

Sad that McVay did NOT already have a backup plan from that beat down. That is inexperience and terrible lack of preparedness in a league driven by workaholic preparedness.

Yup Belly had seen 3 teams use the same recipe to beat the Rams. Lions, Bears and Eagles. They didnt self scout. I'm surprised they didnt try empty and make some of those bigger LB like Hightower cover people. Pat's DB matched up real well with the Rams WR. I saw a clip where Belicheck was on the headset telling someone he lost sight of McVay and they helped point him out. Something McVay was doing was tipping plays because Belicheck was watching him during the game.

Reading between the lines, does this imply that the Broncos will draft defense at #10?

Unless QB we should go D at 10.

It hasn't been formally announced, but all sources are indicating the Broncos will play in the 2019 Hall of Fame game. Broncos game action on Thursday, Aug.1 this year!

Could also just be a case of overconfidence/arrogance/stubbornness. "My scheme is great and if we execute we can beat anybody with it."

Could be, but you do not survive in the NFL without correction and attention to detail. Those were supposed to be 2 of his greatest assets as young HC....

I agree but even at that they were just 2 dropped Brandon Cooks TDs away from winning.

Wade called a hell of a game. He had the DEs jamming the backs out of the backfield. He was totally unpredictable. Pat's quit calling run plays with pulling linemen. I'd love to hear Pats coaches comment on it.
