  • Sean Kugler to Bucs

Didn't see a thread on this, but given what the OL did with what they had this past year, felt worth mentioning.

Also, probably another confirmation of Kubiak and possibly the return of everyone's fav OL coach, Rick Dennison. Probably under the OC title to get him away from the Jets.

Definitely glad we let the coach go who made a line with 3 interior backups respective. Welcome to the Sam Jones era.

At least Keenum will be on IR by week 3.

I am usually Mr glass-is-half-full positivity, am pumped about the Fangio hire, and cautiously optimistic about Kubes as OC, but this just flat out sucks. yes the o-line wasn't great this year but it was much improved despite significant injuries. And this also means that Dennison is almost certainly coming back in some capacity.

The only crumb of comfort is that whilst Dennison almost certainly sucks as an OC, last time he looked after the o-line for Kubes as o-line coach it was pretty good - it was 2001-2004 - here's the run game rankings:

      Year Rush yards avg/rush
      2001 10 19
      2002 5 3
      2003 2 4
      2004 4 8

OK this was many years ago - I don't buy the argument that Kubes schemes are outdated as such - I think he's been able to see what's changing in the league and adapt, but perhaps more as a follower than a leader...

Of course Dennison's most recent work is a year as the Jets o-line coach. Those numbers are....not so good

      Year Rush yards avg/rush
      2018 26 29

Still, you could argue their o-line sucks and this is mainly a talent issue, also its just one year.

Could be worse, they haven't actually announced his appointment yet, its not like the line was stellar so it may not be a disaster, but i liked the direction we were going with it.

All I can say is it'd better not suck next year.....and Kubes better stay healthy as I do NOT want Dennison running the offense overall....

          Apparently not.

Interviewing with Vikings and Cards now.

This won’t be a huge loss if we can bring in Munchak as OL coach.
