He's never been good at drafting. Cheating covers a lot of warts though.

Brady and the Chandler Jones drafts helped him out a **** ton.

He has been better than people act like though. Not only has he drafted arguably the GOATs at 2 positions, he has traded picks for key players. He has quite a few whiffs but a lot of hits too. He has more hits than most for starters on teams that are always there in Jan. He also doesn't do what Elway does that pisses me off. He isn't afraid to cut line early on a player and can admit a mistake where some GM's are hell bent on making their guy pan out.

Belichick cuts bait on players when they don't fall in line. He's the coach and GM so it marries together.
GM's don't cut bait on players because they had them graded a certain way and hope the coaching staff can bring that grade out in them.

Which is smart and make no mistake about it he has drafted pretty well despite guys around here saying he hasn't. He has missed on some high picks just like every GM does.

He makes up for it by being able to cut ties *cough*bookerlynch*cough*

The Brady pick was luck. I'm so tired of GM's getting credit for drafting great players after passing on them a half dozen times.

He's a mediocre drafter. There's worse. There's better. Belichick has won off of Brady and his cheap contract, extensive cheating, and good, authoritarian coaching (yes, I'll admit he is a good coach, even if he is a cheater). He more has to overcome his drafts than he is able to ride them to success ultimately.
