    This is even worse news:

The observations from WMO’s Global Atmosphere Watch network showed that CO2 levels increased more from 2012 to 2013 than during any other year since 1984. Scientists think this may be related to reduced CO2 absorption by the Earth’s biosphere, as well as by the steady increase in emissions.

Although the oceans lessen the increase in CO2 that would otherwise happen in the atmosphere, they do so at a price to marine life and to fishing communities ? and also to tourism. The Bulletin says the oceans appear to be acidifying faster than at any time in at least the last 300 million years.

“We know without any doubt that our climate is changing and our weather is becoming more extreme due to human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels,” said the WMO’s secretary-general, Michel Jarraud.

“The Greenhouse Gas Bulletin shows that, far from falling, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere actually increased last year at the fastest rate for nearly 30 years. We are running out of time. The laws of physics are non-negotiable."

We talk about the changing ph levels of the oceans a lot around here. It blows my mind how non chalant people are about what is happening to this planet. Unfortunately the biggest deniers are Americans. Much of the rest of the world is on board. We should be setting the trend, but it seems like we will be the last to admit it.

Cutthemdown always calls people who are concerned about the environment liberals when it really shouldn't even be a partisan issue. That is troubling.

The changes in migration patterns are only one little piece of the puzzle.
No your's actually was circular logic. You use something that is true.

1- HEY EVERYONE WEIRD EXOTIC FISH ARE IN SOUTHERN CA = true
2- But then your conclusion= IT's BECAUSE OF GLOBAL WARMING

but the fact are many things can force animals to migrate and in the case of so calif it's an El Nino we have seen before. So you premise was valid, but your conclusion was circular logic.

        Congrats.

If you'd read up a little more on the subject you'd find out that the occurrences and intensities of El Ninos are also a product of climate change.

Except this is just a regular ole El Nino. We haven't seen a super el nino lol. Just more hyper-scare tactics.

We will all be fine and lead great lives and a healthy living planet.

The same bozos hysterical about global warming cooling, tornadoes, no tornadoes, hurricanes, no hurricanes, cows passing gas never say a thing about China and India, the biggest polluters in the world. Until they start seriously doing that, the rest is BS!

Extent of Antarctic sea ice reaches record levels, scientists say
By Jane Ryan and Sam Ikin

                      Updated yesterday at 7:26pmMon 15 Sep 2014, 7:26pm

Scientists say the extent of Antarctic sea ice cover is at its highest level since records began.

Satellite imagery reveals an area of about 20 million square kilometres covered by sea ice around the Antarctic continent.

Jan Lieser from the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) said the discovery was made two days ago.

"This is an area covered by sea ice which we've never seen from space before," he said.

"Thirty-five years ago the first satellites went up which were reliably telling us what area, two dimensional area, of sea ice was covered and we've never seen that before, that much area.

"That is roughly double the size of the Antarctic continent and about three times the size of Australia."
Audio: Researchers argue the increase in sea ice does not negate the reality of global warming. (PM)

The formation of sea ice around Antarctica every year is one of the biggest seasonal events on Earth.

The ice is generated in what scientists refer to as "sea ice factories" or polynia - areas of the ocean surface where currents and wind patterns combine to generate sea ice.
Satellite image showing Antarctic sea ice Photo: A satellite image of Antarctica showing sea ice extent. The red line is the average for September. (Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems CRC)

"As soon as sea ice is produced in these polynias it is actually transported away from that so more sea ice can be produced," Dr Lieser said.
                      Record Antarctic sea ice:

Antarctic sea ice covers 19.619 million sq km.
Maximum area recorded on September 12, 2014.
Third year in a row a record has been reached.
There has been a 1.5 per cent increase each decade since records began in 1979.
Increase believed to be linked to strong westerly winds.

As the area covered in sea ice expands scientists have said the ice on the continent of Antarctica which is not over the ocean continues to deplete.

CEO of the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems CRC, Tony Worby, said the warming atmosphere is leading to greater sea ice coverage by changing wind patterns.

"The extent of sea ice is driven by the winds around Antarctica, and we believe that they're increasing in strength and part of that is around the depletion of ozone," he said.

He said changes to sea ice levels could have implications for the entire Antarctic ecosystem.

"So the sea ice is a very important habitat for krill in particular and for the reproduction of krill and that forms one of the absolute staples of the diet for many species in the Antarctic."

While the Antarctic ecosystem braces for change, the world's Antarctic research vessels will also have to contend with treacherous conditions in the months ahead.
Great job Algore. Wasn't the polar caps suppose to be gone by now?

Al Gore was wrong, but he predicted the Arctic polar cap in the summer would be gone by now. I don't think anybody with any sense would predict that all the ice in Antarctica would melt by now, especially in its winter.

The Earth is just way more resilient then the models predict. Science can do and prove many things, but creating working models of the Earth they aren't that great at yet IMO.

From the article you posted you dunce:

As land ice melts into the ocean, the ocean salinity decreases and since fresh water has a higher freezing temperature, you have an increase of ice. Another example supporting climate change is occurring you idiot
