In 2008, the government spent under $3 trillion. Obama pledged he would cut it in half in less than four years. After six years, spending has shrunk to almost $4 trillion. If we keep cutting like this, it will be down to $5 trillion before you know it.

In 2009, the housing market collapse, sending the U.S. economy into depression, which caused previously legislated spending increases to kick in.
Why is that so difficult for some people to comprehend?
I don't like the huge infrastructure bills because they waste money but if it meant money for the project to tear my cities ww2 era breakwall builit to protect the navy ships down I am all for it. Obama said he liked the idea but no money. Army Corps did a study that the city paid for which I guess doesn't happen much.
Long Beach deserves it. The breakwater kills the waves, makes water dirty, and hurts our economy.
I would rather see big infrastructure projects be funded 1 by 1 rather then some billions of dollars without clear cut projects to do.
It could be a non partisan issue but considering how the govt is so corrupt its a worry letting them have 100's of billions to spend on projects that could be pork and not needed.

Are households always in debt? do households have the ability to collect taxes? or to issue currency?
the federal government has always been in debt. you nincompoops only raise the issue when a dem prez is in power.

Do I need to trot out the old Proggie "Bush deficits is enslavin' our childrens!" campaign commercials again? You know, back when those deficits were a small fraction of what they are today?
