  • In historic vote, Denver ends 30 year ban on pitbulls

Finally! I watched that entire Denver city council meeting last night until the final vote. That was very intense. It is now LEGAL to own a pitbull in Denver.
Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) is a relic of the past and is scientifically invalid.
There are already thousands of pitbulls in Denver, living in the shadows until now.
I know people in Denver who own pitbulls and are afraid to take them outside or even to the vet for fear of being turned in and having their dog confiscated.
Great that this passed and now Aurora's BSL must fall next.

The following infographic shows that the Pit Bull is still responsible for the most fatal attacks in the U.S. by far, killing 284 people over that 13-year period - 66 percent of total fatalities. That's despite the breed accounting for just 6.5% of the total U.S. dog population. (Forbes)
