  • the end of US primacy in the Pacific?

Bad news for US empire. Good news for the world.

Last week's military parade previewed a series of game-changing weapons that could neutralize American seapower.

Is this like the time when you told us Iranian science would overwhelm us?

Iran's asymmetric anti ship missiles have forced the US carriers to avoid the Persian Gulf. That's deterrence -- exactly what I was talking about. China is now able to accomplish the same deterrence in the S China Sea which used to be US owned waters. no longer.

Time to stack Taiwan, SKor and Taiwan with nukes.

Chinese deterrence is -- I believe -- having another effect. Today, the US military is more reluctant to engage in a conflict in the Gulf because China could exploit the situation regarding Taiwan - which China views as part of China.

Nobody gives a **** how China views it. The question is how many Chinese they want to die over it. And how much they want to isolate their economy over it.

Taiwan's got the tech to develop nukes. As do Japan and SKor. We don't even have to do anything there but stop standing in the way.

If China wants to be both totalitarian and aggressive, We need to start encouraging our allies to take it seriously, and helping as much as we can.

We don't even need carriers in the region to plink transports out of the water.

US CVN never operated in the Gulf. We don't need to because we have the range force projections.

The very thought gives an America-hating Putin puppet like Comrade Gaffo a boner.

You need to brush up on your naval history. You are mistaken. US carriers operated in the Persian Gulf for decades. In the recent crisis over the tanker attacks, however, the US carrier Abe Lincoln was deployed to the region but did not enter the Gulf -- in order to stay out of range of Iranian anti ship missiles.

That looks like successful deterrence by Iran to me.

It is anyone's guess what will happen if a shooting war develops. Any and all US ships docked at the US base in Qatar will be at risk.

                    Pray for peace.

You will probably deny it -- but it's obvious you are as brainwashed as W*gs -- so steeped in US exceptionalism you are blind to the world as it really is.

You don't know what you are talking about. Since the 1970s the US has never deployed carrier into the gulf. It has always been stationed outside, that was been standard 1970s ASM and the extend range we can operate at.

What do you mean by deployed? US carriers certainly cruised the Persian Gulf waters. The Independence patrolled the Gulf in 1998. Just one example.

The USS Abe Lincoln patrolled the Gulf in 2012. But not this time.

The US 5th fleet operates in the Persian Gulf on a regular basis - - and is stationed at Bahrain, in the Gulf.

Elsid is in denial about the present naval realities -- that have shifted due to the spread of low cost but effective asymmetric weapons, especially anti ship cruise missiles.
