"The 'smear campaign' against Yovanovitch was instigated by Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, his two associates — Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, and the right-wing media, according to Yovanovitch. Parnas and Fruman, who are both under indictment for illegally funneling foreign donations to U.S. political candidates, sought to establish a liquefied natural gas operation in Ukraine."

An associate of Rudy Giuliani, President Trump’s personal attorney, told confidants that he was on a “secret mission” for the president.

After meeting with Trump at the White House in December, Lev Parnas reportedly insinuated to associates that the president had given him a special assignment, like some sort of “James Bond mission,” one of his confidants told CNN.

"Parnas viewed the assignment as a great crusade," one of the people to whom Parnas spoke told CNN. "He believed he was doing the right thing for Trump."

Parnas believed that he would carry out Trump’s directives, as dictated through Giuliani, to help advance the president’s interests in Ukraine.

Rudy Giuliani and his associates are facing new scrutiny around their actions in Ukraine as investigators are now speaking with executives at Naftogaz, Ukraine’s state-owned oil and gas company. It seems U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch wasn’t the only anticorruption advocate in Ukraine that Giuliani, Lev Parnas, and Igor Fruman wanted out of the way. They were also seeking to oust Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolyev.

                CNN has the damning details:

An American energy consultant who operates in Ukraine, Dale Perry, described the efforts to oust Naftogaz's CEO, Andriy Kobolyev, who is known for his anti-corruption reforms at the company. At an energy conference in Houston last April, Parnas and Fruman asked a senior Naftogaz executive Andrew Favorov if he would go along with their plan to oust the company's current CEO and become its head, according to Perry, who is Favorov's former business partner.

"(Parnas and Fruman) basically just flat out said to him, hey, to do the deals we want to do, we were not able to get through to your CEO, and we think that the business needs a new CEO," Perry told CNN.

Leave us not forget this slimy little weasel...

Rep. Devin Nunes got help from indicted Giuliani associate Lev Parnas for 2018 Europe trip

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) traveled to Europe with three aides from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3, 2018, on a $63,000 taxpayer-funded investigative trip, and Lev Parnas, an associate of Rudy Giuliani arrested last month on federal campaign finance and conspiracy charges, helped arrange meetings and calls for his trip, The Daily Beast reports, citing Parnas lawyer Ed MacMahaon and congressional records. Nunes aide Derek Harvey was involved in the Parnas meeting, and he accompanied Nunes to Europe along with fellow aides Scott Glabe and George Pappas.

Rep Swalwell went there. He introduced an article that publicly discloses Devin Nunes shady investigative work with an indicted Rudy Giuliani associate into the impeachment hearing.

The look on Devin Nunes face was absolutely priceless! 🤣😂

Parnas wants to to testify against Rudy and Trump. (likely he want imunity from prosecution which he shouldn't get) and he came out and said he took Nunes to meet with Shokin ( the Biden ousted prosecutor for Poroshenko) in Dec. of 18 Friday. I don't think that this investigation is over. Watergate went on for 2 years. I think a little more time waiting for testimony will result in a LOT more damaging info. Who cares if an election is going on? The more crap that can be proven the better. Too bad if Trump is finally proven to be the scumbag he is.

You’re 100% right about this, Scott. There are many more threads to follow here and far too early to wrap things up. The administration has stonewalled every step - they need to get Bolton, Pompeo, Mulvaney, Giuliani, Barr, Pence, and even Trump on the record and force them to testify. They’re also on the verge of getting Trump’s tax returns, which could help explain why Trump is so beholden to Russia. Significant portions of the Mueller report can also be unredacted now that the Stone trial is over. Look at all the Republicans put Clinton through - it started with Whitewater and led to many other things before they found out about the blue dress. So what is the big hurry?

Not to mention that wrapping it up early will make this look MORE political, not less. They need to find out the truth, no matter how long it takes, not before some imaginary deadline of the Iowa caucuses. And I think a longer investigation would actually help the Dems politically, not hurt them. Keep the Trump investigation in the headlines while Dems debate their crazy ideas which will never get passed in the primary, on the sidelines. Then by the time the investigation is over, maybe closer to the summer, the Dems will have a nominee who can run back to the center by the time people start paying attention.

And politically there’s no reason the investigation has to necessarily be over by the election either. The more crimes that are uncovered and the longer a cloud is over Trump, that only helps the Dems, just like the cloud over Clinton hurt Gore and helped Bush in 2000. For their sake, hopefully Pelosi and Schiff etc. will be smart enough to realize this.

Call me naive, but I just do not understand why the republicans want so much for the Ukrainian scrap to be true. Do the congresscriters really believe that junk? There is something really sinister about this whole situation. I simply am in awe of the collective insanity displayed by the GOP members of the Intell Committee.

I swear to God that since they are so afraid of Biden, then that's my man.

New documents show contacts between Giuliani and Pompeo

Newly released documents show Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani was in contact with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in the months before the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine was abruptly recalled

The State Department released the documents Friday to the group American Oversight in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. They show that Pompeo talked with Giuliani on March 26 and March 29.

Austin Evers, executive director of American Oversight, said the documents reveal “a clear paper trail from Rudy Giuliani to the Oval Office to Secretary Pompeo to facilitate Giuliani’s smear campaign against a U.S. ambassador.”
