  • Park Police Attempt To Shut Down Mount Vernon - Until They're Told It's Privately Funded

    http://www.ijreview.com/2013/10/8391...vately-funded/

The National Park Service (NPS) tried to shut down George Washington’s Mt. Vernon estate Tuesday as part of the government shutdown. There was only one problem: Mount Vernon is funded entirely by private contributions. Oops.

Melissa Wood, Mt. Vernon’s media director. said the NPS removed barricades it had placed at the entrance to a parking lot “as soon as they realized their mistake.”

However, Stephen Gutowski of The College Politico tweeted that one the estate’s parking lots was still barricaded as of Thursday afternoon.

Critics charge that The White has closed selective national landmarks to highlight the effect of the “Republican” shutdown. This time, they were even more overzealous than usual. Good job, O.

    Makes you think. Hmmmmmmmm.

Yeah, Make no mistake. The WH is taking off the gloves and has rolls of quarters in their fists. This will be getting more stupid by the day.

George Washington made his own whiskey and his own beer. I would love to see Mount Vernon someday.

Careful with that - you start thinking, you'll get kicked out of the GOP.

Right into the doorway of the Dems that had Senator "KKK" Byrd. And Washington was a Dem too. Repubs abolished slavery Dems fought for it.

Maybe we should put the National Park service in charge of national insurance while we're at it. What a joke.

Ro Mt. Vernon is magnificent. I took hundreds of pics and was in awe. They say George may not have transitioned power over as he was essentially the King but he missed his farm so much he couldn't wait to let someone else be president. Don't blame him one bit.

Keep banging that drum, bud. I'll see you one Robert Byrd (who later recanted and apologized for his previous racist activities), and I'll raise you:

                Jesse Helms (Democrat, turned Republican)
                Strom Thurmond (Democrat, turned Republican)
                Lester Maddox (Democrat, became Independent)
Trent Lott (Democrat, turned Republican, member of Council of Conservative Citizens)
George Wallace (Democrat, turned Independent, ran on segregationist platform)

So, you have to ask yourself (and if you know anything about political history, which it is clear you do not, you already know the answer), why did all these guys leave the Democratic Party...and why did many of them either run against other Democrats in place of or alongside Republicans, start conservative groups, or become Republicans all together?

I won't be nice and answer that question for you, I will just allow you to sit there with a stupid look on your face.

                Now, kindly...SHUT THE **** UP.

They have actually started brewing whiskey for a original Washington recipe that you can buy. I have heard it is extremely "harsh"

Silly liberal. Can you tell me why Congressional representation in the south remained heavily democratic into the early 90's? Was the Democratic party still the racist party up until then?

The truth is good ' ol boy Clinton dicking with the 2nd Amendment (among other things) opened the flood gates and the South realized they no longer had any representation in the Democratic party.

Or put another way, once the glue of segregation no longer held the Southern and Southern-enabling Democrats together, they struggled to find other reasons to do so.

Liberals clearly are void of logic. The democrats are clearly the party of racists, history has shown that no matter how liberals try to spin it. But in their eyes, racist democrats switching to republican means that the republicans are racists despite a much higher percentage of them voted for the 1964 Civil Rights Act than democrats. So "logic" to them means racists in the democrat party switched to republican because they are racists even though more republicans voted for that bill, so switching to the side that supported it even more than democrats. This is why liberals sound and look dumb every day when they come up with such stupidity.

I'll bet it did the trick. And quick, too.

Our government is more worried about closing and guarding museums, memorials, and parks than our borders. The stupidity of this admin. has no bounds.
