      • Trump’s restoration of Gallagher's rank and clemency was questioned by critics like former Joint Chiefs Chairman General Martin Dempsey, who tweeted that without evidence proving innocence of injustice, the 'wholesale pardon…signals our troops and allies we don’t take the Law of Armed Conflict serious.' He called it an 'abdication of moral responsibility as well as the UN who condemned his actions as a 'disturbing signal' to military forces worldwide.

                  • As Dr. Bill pointed out, members of Congress are giving continual credibility to a baseless lie: that ukraine, not Russia, is responsible for the election meddling. Cue Devin (that cow is mine) Nunes. Republicans and false narratives seem to go together like tRump and dog shyte.

What about the journalist murdered by SA?

The Repugnicans are a corrupt association. tRump is a corrupt criminal.

                    • It’s getting hard to keep up with the corruption of the Trump administration.

Newly released documents show that the Secret Service spent more than a quarter of a million dollars at Trump properties in only a five month period in 2017. These expenditures included a $45,000 bill at the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas and more than $32,000 spent at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C.

These are your taxpayer dollars at work, folks. Over the course of only five months, the Secret Service spent more than a quarter of a million dollars of your money, funneling it straight into the president’s pockets. As he continues to blatantly profit off the presidency, Trump is shredding our Constitution to bits and trampling all over every single ethical standard expected of public servants. We cannot become numb to his flagrant corruption.

                        • I think I understand. They want the opportunity to bounce him just as the repugnicans are losing so many special elections. Independents can be mean with their votes. The Repuglican senators need to be very careful with the "trial".

The confusion is about which meddling. Trump has some idiotic theory about Ukraine involved in hacking. He's only hurting himself with that because it's helpful to Democrats to conflate that in and pretend like there's nothing there. To his hacking theory, that's true. But that's not the real story.

The actual 'meddling' that took place involved Democratic officials, and possibly administration members getting Ukraine to leak private documents to damage a Trump campaign member. The leak inarguably happened. The media widely reported on the material involved. Ukrainian courts have specified they were leaked to impact parties in the American election.

The ethical/legal question is who was involved in getting it leaked, and what leverage they may have used to achieve it.

                              Fake news!

Time for a fact-check: Ukraine did not interfere with the 2016 election. That is a conspiracy theory pushed by the Trump White House, in particular Rudy Giuliani. It has been completely debunked. Tom Bossert, who worked for Trump as Homeland Security adviser, called it “completely false,” and added: “At this point I am deeply frustrated with what [Giuliani] and the legal team is doing and repeating that debunked theory to the president.”

Lolz. You did exactly what I said you'd do and are arguing against the server/Crowdstrike conspiracy. Trump's an idiot there. Already said so. Like Schiff making up transcript language. Finding an idiot characterizing it wrong should not negate your concern.

Anyway, the hacking's not where the meddling happened. As Ukrainian courts have said, and Nellie Ohr testified, a Ukrainian legislator working with Hillary's contractor (Fusion) leaked Ukrainian Manafort documents that ended up driving a Trump campaign scandal.

That part of it's really a slam dunk. People who want to hold such low bars for what 'collusion' is should consider this very concerning. But of course there is no concern. Because what we're seeing is theatrical, not principled.
