I know this isn't a football-related discussion. If someone wants to move it, then have at it.

I have been thinking a lot this week about 9/11 (like a lot of Americans, probably).

I would love it if this thread doesn't get politicized. That's probably unrealistic.

Rick Reilly jumped the shark for me a long time ago. But this article was really touching. - it brought tears to my eyes, actually.

I remember waking up that day to head into the office (I'm not really a morning person, so I would usually get in about 9:30), turning on the TV, and being horrified at what I was seeing. CNN has a fifteen minute-ish clip of live coverage from that day that I just watched. I remember just not being able to get my mind around what I was seeing - especially with the towers collapsing.

God bless the families of those who lost their lives that day. God bless the families of those who have lost their lives defending us since that day. I pray that we, as Americans, never have to go through anything like that again.

Don't forget 9/11, 1814 in your remembrance as well. We were attacked that day in New York as well in Plattsburgh, Ny.

I have watched a lot of the documentaries the past few weeks which has brought back sad memories. It's hard to believe it has been ten year's and I'm sure Sunday will be emotional for most American's affected by this tragedy. Remember T.O.'s tear dropping during the pregame following that cancelled week? I'm sure there will be a lot of that week 1.

USA! USA! USA!

no offense, but I really want to forget. This day gets thrown in my face every year. This year doesn't mean anymore than the last one.

I lived in Scotland still when it happened, TV was interrupted at 130pm with news of a crash, then all of the stations started changing when the 2nd hit.

I was in college at the time, my room mate and I went to get food at the local grocery store from our flat, we stopped in an electronics store to watch Tony Blair's speech along with about 200 people. Very surreal day.

I still have the Glasgow Herald newspaper from 9/12

This may sound stupid but it's my Broncos related memory. The night before was when we mopped up the Giants, but in the meantime Easy Eddy's leg was broken for everyone to see on TV. I remember being really bothered by it that night, then the next day the attacks occurred.

I can't and won't forget. But I don't want to remember, either. Makes me too angry. Too sad.

I think Bronco fans will always remember that. It's the most important inconsequential injury in Broncos history.

I was in lab at the time, still remember getting the news via text and trying to put it up on the projector in the lab.

I had just moved away from home for the first time, and my mom called to see if I had the tv on, she said America was under attack. I couldn't understand what she would be talking about, then I tuned in right as the second tower was hit. Just couldn't comprehend what I was seeing.

We played well that game. It's strange that because of 9/11 the following day, I always remember that play too. I was sick to my stomach about it and the next day definitely put things in perspective for me.

"Never Forget" is code for:

10 years and +100,000 people killed all over the Middle East in the name of revenge and "protecting us from another attack." A trillion dollars wasted that could've gone to schools, jobs, healthcare, innovation....hell, maybe even some worthwhile efforts to solve the core reasons why terrorists are after us in the first place (i.e. our mating ritual with Israel and us propping up multi-nationals at the expense of the local population in 3rd world countries).

BUT HEY - WE GOT OSAMA!! USA USA!

I remember getting up early, flipping it to ESPN to hear about McCaffrey and seeing game highlights and then seeing the 2nd plane hit. It was on every single channel, even movie channels.

Surreal day.

I was at that game too.

No matter how many we kill overthere, it won't bring back those lost, or those wasted lives lost in Iraq for lies.

The best way to honor the fallen is teach tolerance, educate our kids, and do what we can so it never happens again. That includes the failure to crush them after the USS Cole, World trade 1, and then mishandling after 9/11.

Educate

We as a country need to act the part to hold the high ground.

The fact we broke geneva conventions and resorted to torturing suspects is something I will never forgive those ignorant enough to keep those in power who committed those war crimes.

Lieing in the State of the Union about yellow cake uranium to scare a nation to war. Treasonous.

Gloating over torturing after the fact.
Embarrassing, and yet nothing is done.

That was not a lie. The Brits still stand by it.

At any rate, I wont argue over Iraq or "torture". Not the point of the thread.

Your thoughts is why there is a famous quote about forgetting the past.
I want to always remember and talked to my father in law about this last night. Will my kids generation and the one after start to let 9/11 lose its meaning because they don't remember living through it? D-Day and V-Day doesn't hold the same meaning to my generation as it does my Grandfather's generation who fought during that time. "If you forget, it will be repeated" or something like that. When I remember 9/11, I want to know that our country won't let that happen again and be ready for those who want to terrorize us.

I was stationed in.Korea when it happened. A coworkers and I were watching the broncos game replay. After the game, we turned it to the news and saw what was going on. The base shut down and everyone who stayed off base was moved onto it. It sucked being overseas away from the family during this time.

I can't forget. I used to celebrate that day every year of my life before the attacks of 9/11 happened
I still celebrate 9/11 like I've always have but in a more low-key way.

September 11 happens to be my birthday. It's in my heart a special day for me and for my country...
Let's not forget!

You're right. I should be a "patriot" and keep my mouth shut and just offer up glittering banal tributes as to why 9/11 is such an important day....but ignore all that other stuff about how it has become a rallying cry for crimes against humanity.

My bad! Now, here is a picture of Toby Keith as my token of apology.
