Default Broncos not crying over last Years 59-14 loss

You read the special section and are waiting for the Raiders' night practice updates and interviews. Killing time reading stuff from today's conference calls with Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton and coach John Fox isn't going to do much for you but here goes:

Orton was supposed to be traded to make room for Tim Tebow to start, but that was before everybody started beating up on Tebow on the field and off. Orton is still there.

"Anything in the offseason never surprises me," Orton said. "It's part of the business. I don't have any thoughts on that at all. Just excited to be here, excited with the team we have and excited with the guys we have on offense."

Does Orton even watch last year's 59-14 loss to the visiting Raiders? Or was it burned?

"We certainly watch it. We know what happened. We're not sitting here crying over spilt milk. What happened, happened. You can always learn something and certainly we're excited to get them back here at Mile High and see what they've got."

How different are Raiders without Pro Bowl CB Nnamdi Asomugha?

"We'll have to wait and see. They've had some injuries throughout the preseason. We'll have to wait and see what they have come Monday. Certainly Nnamdi was a great player no doubt about that.

Orton doesn't suddenly see a half of a field opening up with Asomugha gone, and Chris Johnson starting in his place.

"I kind of go about it the same way every time. I just go through my reads and try to throw the ball to the open guy."

^ Here's Fox on Raiders RB Darren McFadden and Broncos rookie LB Von Miller:

"(McFadden's) a very explosive player. Whether you hand it to him or throw it to him, he's got as good a burst of acceleration as top-notch backs that playing, without a doubt. And I think he was plagued by injuries earlier in his career but last year was a break-out year for him and I'm sure he's really confident coming into this year."

"(Miller's) a little but like I talked about Darren McFadden, in a different position. He's very explosive. He converts power and speed very well and he's got an excellent first step in explosion as far as rushing the passer."

We better contain the run or it isn't going to end well.

So much this. We need a lead, force them to throw and get pressure on Campbell. When was the last time we won on MNF? Chargers?

...and this is why Orton is not the right guy for the team. He doesn't understand the rivalry, doesn't understand the importance to fans, and doesn't understand or care about Broncos history.

His tenure here can't end soon enough.

I don't know about the team, but we'll be better because I'm watching, this year. During that game, last year, I was in the hospital. I missed the whole thing. This time, I'm healthy and ready to be an unhealthy couch potato...

You gleaned all that from a quote where he says "we don't cry over it"?

You should definitely reach more, but be sure to stretch. Hate to see you pull something.

If anything he should understand the rivalry even more now since the broncos have lost 3 of 4 against the Gaiders in his tenure here.

If we don't come out and stomp on those fools I will be shocked and or appalled.

Well, Orton thinks that "what happened happened" and that he "cant cry over spilt milk", which shouldn't make any Broncos fan confident that he wants to go out there and avenge last years loss.

I want a guy who is crying over spilt milk. That's what I'm looking for in a quarterback. A crybaby.

Because crying over spilt milk will deliver a win. Or something equally retarded.

Without looking it up, outside of 1999, I can't think of any time in the last 15-20 years that the Broncos have lost their first home game of the year.

59 points to the Raiders. That really is pretty unbelievable.

In 2006 the Raiders scored 168 points..........the whole season.

Orton should have apologized to fans for that disaster.

Instead, he has an apathetic nonchalance about the whole thing.

I think the key is our offense staying on the field for long drives to wear down their defense.

One of the worst losses in Broncos history (not quite as bad as the San Francisco Super Bowl loss, but not far off, either).

I don't want to hear that "it was just one game" or "we're not thinking about it." In fact, I want them to be pissed off and obsessed about it. A horrible, embarassing performance which led directly to a franchise shake-up at season's end

I think a big factor is our defense stopping a big back like Michael Bush. I think we may see a Bush / Mays collision a time or two.
