BASTROP, Texas (AP) — One of the most devastating wildfire outbreaks in Texas history left more than 1,000 homes in ruins Tuesday and stretched the state's firefighting ranks to the limit, confronting Gov. Rick Perry with a major disaster at home just as the GOP presidential contest heats up.

...3 killed and 67 injured in 53 gun related incidents in NY this past weekend( guess those NYers can't hit the broad side of the barn), ....and another guy has leg munched off by shark off the coast of australia (dumb Mfer shouldn't have been out there), two motorcyclists died in Jeffco in separate incidents (playing chicken with a semi= losing proposition),....frigging guy in colorado has to amputate his toes to free hmself from machinery (should have had on those steel toed shoes)..........

Texas made many budget cuts last year. We aren't afraid to do the things that California is paralyzed to do.

Ask California about the firefighters, police, and emergency response team in Vallejo.

Michele Bachmann was only joking around when she said the recent earthquake and hurricane were a message from God to scare Congress into action, her spokeswoman said.

The backtracking Republican had her mouthpiece explain her humor to the Talking Points Memo website on Monday after the St. Petersburg Times reported her comments at a weekend campaign rally in Florida.

"I don't know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We've had an earthquake. We've had a hurricane," Bachmann ranted, according to the paper.

The Tea Party favorite raised eyebrows with a weekend remark to supporters in Florida that Hurricane Irene, which killed at least 24 people and left millions without power, and an East Coast earthquake were God's way of telling politicians to cut spending and fix the budget deficit.
