Default Demaryius Thomas NOT PLACED on PuP list - on Active 53 man roster

Thought this merited it's own thread - either he's being rushed back (wish I find doubtful considering how well the reserve WRs played in preseason) or this is a great sign of his recovery that the team expects him back in the first 6 weeks.

They mentioned on Thursday that he was running 40 sprints in pre-game.

Sort of, basically when your 53-man roster is finalized at the deadline (which is today) if you have a player on the PuP list than he cannot play the first 6 weeks of the season.

Considering they had Demaryius on the list the entire preseason and had WRs like Riley, Britt and Goodwin that had strong showings in the preseason - the fact they didn't place him on the PuP list means they have to KNOW he'll be ready to go SOON. Otherwise they could've kept him on the PuP list and kept around one of the other WRs and made the switch in Week 6. The fact they didn't do this tells me they've got to expect him back in the 1st month of the season - no reason to take up a roster spot (of a position that plays special teams usually too) otherwise.

Anybody remember if it was a full or partial tear? I think it was partial which may be why he's ready so much sooner than the normal 12-month period... is this right Doc?

Demaryius Thomas NOT PLACED on PuP list - YET...

I'm betting the roster isn't done yet.

WR Demaryius Thomas has been cleared to practice. Thomas had been expected to be placed on the PUP list and not practice until Week 6. But GM Brian Xanders said that Thomas' preparation during the lockout and over the last five weeks doing explosive moves on his surgically-repaired Achilles removed doubt. "He's ready to go," the GM said. Broncos RapidReports

From an achilles rupture to surgury to playing in the NFL in 6 months?

I thought I had heard it was only a partial tear but Doc can answer this better than me. I can say he's been seen running sprints at Dove Valley and while he wasn't cutting and nobody had a stopwatch to him - you wouldn't know he's hurt.

Xanders says he's been cutting fine and is ready to start practicing.

Wow... Guess this is good news, as long as they are not rushing him back too soon.

I haven't been so excited about an offensive player in a long time.... maybe since Portis. Dude has the it factor, but has been such a tease. BRB offering up a live chicken to the injury gods.

There'd be no reason to though, they could PuP list him and wait just 6 weeks which isn't that long at all. They're not going to throw the ball much and they had kids like Riley and Goodwin whose preseason play and special teams ability easily merited being kept around for a few weeks. They'll start working him in this week, if he's ready to go like Xanders says - it would be great news - not just for this year but I was more concerned in his long-term recovery. Sounds like he should make a 100% recovery (at least I hope).

All the info that EFX and Greek has from watching and working with him every day.

If I remember right, when his injury was reported, it was believed that he could be ready by the 1st or 2nd week if he recovered and conditioned properly. Apparently, this best case scenario has come to pass.

It was the naysayers who were talking that it would be mid-season at best and more likely 1 year to fully recover.

Also people always compare it to Stokely lets be real Stokely is not a freak athlete like Thomas is plus Thomas is still very fresh in terms of football wear and tear.

also I don't think it was as bad as first reported.

We have enough talent at WR that we can easily afford to ease him back in. He's a weapon that any team would welcome, but the last thing I want is a setback.

Let that thing heal 100%.
