from rotoworld.com ... I believe he'd be subject to waivers, so we could give him a look.
Beat writer John McClain believes Steve Slaton will "probably be waived Friday." Coach Gary Kubiak maintains confidence in Slaton, saying Tuesday, "I know Steve can play in this league. He can be successful in this league." Slaton is caught in a numbers crunch, though, on a roster unlikely to go more than three-deep at tailback. The Cardinals and Bucs should be ready to pounce on an injury-prone but effective third-down back. The Steelers and Browns could show interest as well. Nothing against Jeremiah Johnson/Lance Ball, but Slaton would absolutely be an upgrade over either.
I'd be psyched to bring him in. |

I remember his name from fantasy football. Had a really nice stretch of games, but could NEVER stay healthy, as far as I remember. Do we really want that headache?

Pass. I think Johnson is too promising to cut, Ball knows the playbook, Magahee and Moreno will be the primary rb's. Just don't see a need for Slaton, not that he isn't a decent but injury prone RB.

I'm with you on this too. I think Slaton gets hurt too much. Ball and Johnson have proven to be durable (Ball) and have shown good vision and speed, along with solid potential (Johnson). I'll take my chances with these guys.

slaton can also play special teams and return kicks, so he's not totally useless. still, ST is where a guy like him can both excel AND get dinged/injured. pass.

I'm not even sure we should waste a roster spot on a kick returner this year. Even under the old rules, it was a waste. Now? I see AT LEAST 8 games on our schedule where theres going to be a 99% chance of no returnable kicks.

Can we maximize our #2 position on the waver wire by claiming someone and then trading them to another team willing to give us a player we can better use?

I'd bring Slaton in and let go of Ball! I wouldn't be surprised to see Johnson ahead of Ball which makes Ball expendable!

Can we nab as many players at the #2 spot as possible or does the order change after we claim someone?
