Default Invesco to be renamed "Sports Authority Field" starting 3pm today

It will be renamed Sports Authority Field, pending a 3pm board meeting today.

http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_18688964

If approved, Sports Authority would replace the 10 years remaining on Invesco's initial naming rights deal and extend it 15 more years through the year 2035.

Sports Authority would pay an average of $6 million per year to have its name on the Broncos' stadium, with 50 percent of that revenue going to the team and 50 percent going to the stadium district. Matt Sugar, a former stadium district spokesman who has been brought back as a consultant, said the stadium district uses its taxpayer funding to make capital improvements to the stadium.

I like it more than Invesco.

We just need a team that will show "Authority"

Yeah, especially when some white guy thinks he can run the ball so we should authoritatively give his ass away.

pretty sure everyone in the world that is not contractually obligated to use the official name is still just going to call it Mile High

I actually had no problem calling it Invesco. Very short and simple. **** that abomination of a name though. Mile High will do just fine. My big thing though is I considered Mile High dead when the old stadium was torn down. The new one is a shadow of what it once was in terms of noise production.

So when this goes through, will they be doing construction on the stadium immediately to change the signage? I know it probably wouldn't happen before this Saturday, but I wonder how that will work with the season so close to starting.

All Pat has to do is bring a big ass truck over to the local Home Depot or Lowes and pick up 100 "day laborers". They could have it done in a day or two.

Fine with this. It has sports in the name.

And calling it Mile High does a disservice to Mile High Stadium, which it is not.

I'm still holding out for "Bears Stadium." Is that nostalgia?

I'd probably give that a "9" and Invesco a "6".

We must not be taxing those bastards enough if they can afford to pay that kind of scratch.

I'm just going to call it the SpAF (Sports Authority Field).

When we're not playing well at home, we can say we have a SpAF infection.

When we are playing well at home, and Rod Smith shows up for a game, we can say, "My Rod and my SpAF, they comfort me!"

You see where I'm going with this?

Mile High will always be that glorious structure that is now a parking lot.

Investco, SAF, the diaphragm or whatever you want to call it now is something else.
