Default Texas Gov Perry for President

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is running for president, a spokesman confirmed Thursday, a move certain to shake up the race for the Republican nomination much to the delight of conservatives looking for a candidate to embrace.

This is a huge waste of time and money for Perry. No one is going to elect another Texan president for a while.

Perry would dominate Obama.

Dems already believe that Obama is unelectable. Obama will be running against Romney or Perry, both of which have tons of executive experience and have strong economic backgrounds with discernable histories of success and exceptionalism.

This election will be determined by the issue of the economy, and Obama is a minnow in the pool of the Tiger Shark Romney and the Bull Shark Perry.

Not sure people will care his from Texas but maybe? What both Romeny and Perry have that Obama doesn't is distance from Washington DC. Obama a former senator, now DC's head bull**** artist. By being a governor, or former gov like Romney they can say they are not part of the DC incumbent BS. Right now Americans want to punish the politicians by electing new members to Congress. Both parties in deep trouble in that regard. But Obama also one of them, the country may punish Obama as well.

One thing I find interesting is none of my black friends are fired up anymore. One of them, he's a drummer though so they are a bit different lol, said **** THAT, OBAMA IS HALF WHITE! we ain't claiming him no more! We all laughed pretty hard on that one.

Yeah Perry shows some novice ability at times though. Like when he said NY should be able to make a gay marriage law if they want. Then when people got pissed he backtracked and said he is for a constitutional amendment banning it. That's my problem with him. He seems like he will pander to religious people who get pissed off. Either you are for states rights, or you aren't. Too often the repubs want it both ways....and it pisses me off.

I would rather he just say that NY can do whatever NY wants to do as long as their laws aren't siphoning money out of the other states. He could also say that Texas can do what Texas wants, and that's okay too.

I think that people are ready for states rights arguments again. We're moving in that direction.

yeah perry sure is awesome on economics, his state is tied for first place for most minimum wage jobs, you know the ones that repubs like to dismiss.projected budget shortfall for texas is 20 billion.then you have romney whos passed a healthcare bill that is very similar to the one that obama passed, ye he is against it. some real winners you guys have..

Texas is healthy and thriving because we have no problem making the tough decisions that places like California refuse to make.

Your talking point hairballs don't provide anything of note.

If America elected a corruptocrat from Chicago, then a REAL conservative Texan ain't a stretch. It's all about how you start and how you finish, so let's see if Perry's ready for primetime or not.

One thing's for sure, we would definitely have a stark difference in candidates if Perry wins the GOP nomination, unlike that worm McCain.

Conservatives were always opposed to McCain. Palin was supposed to be the token conservative addition to draw in the base. People viewed McCain as just another Bush...but even more controlled by the big money regressive special interests that dominate leftist politics.

There literally was zero chance that McCain would be elected, and its a wonder that anyone voted for him at all.

Perry on the other hand is basically a straight up business broker. He's a deal maker. He should wear boots and present the subtle image of a Texas rancher, because people really want a person who is a strong deal maker. The guy in office now is like a wet noodle getting slapped around by unions and regressive special interests. Perry would be a stark contrast to that.

Both Perry and Romney are superior intellects as well. They'll run Barack and his teleprompter out of the gym in the debates.

Thats what he wants to say, but then religious right complained and he backtracked. I don't like that I want a President with core beliefs and IMO neither Romney, Perry, Or Obama have them. It sucks. Only Ron Paul sticks to his core beliefs. Not sure about Bauchman I have a hard time taking her seriously to tell you the truth.

Perry would be awesome. We'll all just have a big prayer-off like he did in Texas, and God will fix the economy for us!

Meh. He's no Ron Paul and Texas is NOT thriving. Damn near the bottom in education prior to the recent 4 Billion dollar slash to education spending and thousands of pending teacher layoffs. Just dipped into the rainy day fund and still a TON of work to go to make up the 20 billion dollar difference. Dead last in number of uninsured, high teen pregnancy rates, right at the top in terms of poverty etc. etc. all while having a HUGE advantage over most states with a tremendous amount of oil revenue. Yes, they've added jobs more than other states recently which puts them .2 percentage points behind New York in unemployment.

http://twitter.com/#!/RonPaul/status/101836823701098497

Maybe [Gov Rick Perry] doesn't want to face up to the challenge for all we know; he is the status quo, I represent limited govt and liberty.

Oh, and this:

On foreign policy, one adviser with knowledge of Perry's thinking told Foreign Policy magazine he would portray himself as a "hawk internationalist" -- advocating more defense spending and warning about China's rise.
