Shanny must have absolutely loved that guy in practice. i never understood how he made the team year in and year out. Shanny also loved that one FB we had... he'd make the team every year and hardly ever take a handoff during the seaosn... what was his name again? he was a CSU alum... oh yeah, Cecil Sapp. 5 years in Denver and he got 49 carries (and 24 receptions) in 49 games. he must have been a great practice player too.

Jackson was a guy that Walsh LOVED in college. He basically hand-picked him for Shanahan. Shanahan wanted desperately to make Jackson great as a tribute this old boss and idol.

on the list of the most overrated head coaches in history, Walsh would be my #1.

on the list of most arrogant head coaches in history, Walsh would also be my #1.

there are lots of anecdotes out there about the "true" Walsh, but the best one for me is that whole fiasco where after he retired and his successor (Seifert) found similar success with the 49ers, it so ate him up that Walsh weaseled himself back into the game in the FO of the 49ers and then proceeded to undermine Seifert to the point where the 2 couldn't co-exist any longer.

Anthony Miller off and on was a problem with injury. I remember Shannon Sharpe too had issues under Wade Phillips around the same time. Shanahan I believed benched him for not practicing for a bit.

Trevor Pryce - dude could sit comfortably in his cozy glass house while all kinds of stones were headed his way....he was the highest paid glass I've seen.

His hamstring problems were most likely from all the wiskey and lack of water intake. Just saying.

Nasty Nate is the answer, because despite his injuries he was always on the team and making it out of training camp. You would have thought they would have pulled the plug after year 2, but to make it six years is unbelievable.

Not EVEN technically, glass breaks and takes a LOOONG time to heal, repair, etc. Correct, Schlereth was tough but rarely missed a game especially when it counted and he quickly came back when he did miss. Some great names mentioned here otherwise.

Unbelievable.

Great guy that would make the team was Reggie Rivers. Great guy and pretty smart. Not sure if he is still on KOA but I am sure he is making money somewhere.

I think in order to be up for the award you have to be expected to be a starter and not just camp fodder like Jackson, and the other shanny draft picks like Middlebrooks, Paul T etc. I think Harris and Moreno are good candidates. D THomas is on his way there though.

Except Nate Jackson was never actually supposed to be just camp fodder. You don't keep camp fodder on your team when they've been hurt for SIX YEARS. Every single year in training camp we heard about how great he was playing and how he was finally healthy and how we were going to finally see why we kept him on the team year after year. And every single year he got hurt, went to IR and was shelved until next season. It was like clockwork. Harris and Moreno haven't even come close to the epic injury suck that was Nate Jackson.

Because it was such a comical year. He got carried off the field multiple times during games. He'd literally get carried off, come back later for a few plays, then get carried off again.
