double SNAP
Tim Tebow, Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn all took the field at Dove Valley for the Broncos' first official practice of 2011 training camp this morning. Quinn was the first player on the field, but it was Orton who took snaps with the first-team offense. And it was Orton who looked like the more polished, veteran quarterback. The Broncos and Miami Dolphins have been engaged in talks about a trade for Orton, but no deal has been stuck. After practice, Orton talked like a man who thinks that he, not Tebow, will be the Broncos' starting quarterback. Asked if he expected to be the starter, Orton said: "100 percent." Asked if he wanted to be at Dove Valley, Orton said: "100 percent" During the first drills of camp, Orton looked polished, while Tebow looked much rougher. Orton said he was just happy to be practicing again. "I'm just excited to be out there with my teammates and to be having fun," he said. "I'm just out there competing and I like my chances." New head coach John Fox was careful with his response about Orton. "He's under contract with us. I can't speak to the future," Fox said. "At this point Kyle Orton's on our team. He's under contract and you watched practice, you saw where he was."Practice began at 8:50 with a large crowd of early-morning spectators cheering for both Tebow and Orton as they took the field. "For a first practice ever, I thought things went really well," Fox said. The Broncos did sign offensive lineman Orlando Franklin, a 2011 second-round draft pick from Miami, this morning. That enabled him to begin practice with the rest of the team. Let's see, who actually IS the polished veteran, again? Oh yeah, it's Orton. So let's just be happy that he looked like what he is.
As for Tebow, he's raw and we all know it. There are two question regarding our qb situation, not one as everyone has wrongly assumed. The question is NOT will Orton be moved so Tebow can begin his jaunt into bronco lore. The question is is Kyle Orton part of this team's future success or not, regardless of where we drafted Tebow. The second question, entirely separate from the first question is is Tebow? The fact that Elway's trying to trade Orton tells me the answer to the first question is no. The answer to the second question will be answered as early as the end of training camp and as late as the end of this season. Getcha popcorn. |

F upsetting. I hope AbOrton looks fantastic, Super Bowl fantastic and drive up that market demand for him. Hell, I'll even let him be the starter for a few games while other QBs go down with injuries to drive demand up further. Polish Orton off, box him up and ship him out at a high price. All for it. Go Orton.

shouldn't those smilies be jerking each other off instead? proper smilie use is important in todays internet medium.
with that said, I think this is a brilliant move by the front office to try and leverage orton, by making it look like he may staying and would start. everyone who isn't an idiot and against Tebow because he is religious, believes that a qb who scores more points and can leave the pocket without going fetal is a good move for our team. |

If not, we will be a top 5 drafting team again. The good news about that is, there is a strong possibility we can get Luck out of Stanford next year though so either way, win win for me and I dont really ever have to root for the cry baby known as Tebow. |

Fix the Defense and the run game. That should be the mantra for the 2011 season. We will be fine with either guy at QB if we fix the damn (HAM(f)) run game and defense. |
