Default Report: Broncos vs. Panthers for DeAngelo Williams

Per Rotoworld...

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that the bidding for free agent DeAngelo Williams appears to have become a two-horse race between the Broncos and Panthers.
The Dolphins no longer look to be in serious contention. The Panthers have the ability to offer more money than Denver, so based on that we'd give Carolina the slight edge. In terms of fantasy value and production, we'd still like to see Williams sign with the Broncos. Jonathan Stewart is going to miss out on a big opportunity if D-Will returns, probably never becoming a true featured ball carrier before his rookie contract expires

We have plenty of cap room to match their offers. It ultimately just depends on who wants him more, and who he wants to play for.

I think he'll sign for us, but I hope we don't over spend...

If he stays healthy he'll probably be worth whatever we pay him. I just hope he stays healthy.

It's annoying to see coaches overvalue their former players. There's no reason we should be investing more than $4-7 million/year on one RB.

I'll be very surprised if we or Carolina end up paying Williams more than 7 million a year.

I would say 4-5 million a year is all he'll get from either one

GO PANTHERS!

Anything above 3 mil/yr is overpaying for a RB who has had one excellent 1/2 season in 5 years.

Both teams have young QBs who could use a running-back to depend on. I'd gladly take him, but I wouldn't want Denver breaking any kind of bank to get him.

With the payday the Panthers have to Johnson I wouldn't be surprised to see them throw down 5 years $40m to keep DWilliams in Charlotte. If we are going to pay that much for a player he better not be injury prone... So no Reggie Bush either, not for that kind of money!

Get D-Williams to run between the tackles and Marion Barber for the goal line!

Throw to Moreno on 3rd down ...

Agreed. Overpay for Heap, not Williams.

If he could get back to where he was when he had 1500 yards, it would be an awesome signing.

And I agree with this, although I don't want to break the bank for a TE.

Why are they letting Heap go? Contract?

Hopefully we lose the bidding. The money needs to go to DT first and foremost.

It would be great if the next signings announced were for Landri, Coefield, and Marcus Thomas

We have 20+ million to spend. We can sign Williams and a DT.
