Default Shannon Sharpe's Road to Canton

I keep seeing previews for this years HOF class on the NFL Network and their individual "Road to Canton".

Does anyone know When Shannon's is?

I've seen previews for Deion's, Marshall's and Sabol's......

It would be interesting to know if any other great Tight Ends have won multiple SB rings while playing on different teams.

Surely someone in here knows...this bit of FB trivia.

I know Jeremy Shockey has one w/NY and one w/the Saints.

Though, I recall him not playing in the SuperBowl when NY upset NE.

It was on at 8 EST, it will be on again at 12 AM or 10 PM Mountain time. It is a definite must see. I saw a side of Shannon Sharp I never saw before. It is a powerful must watch. I'm recording it this time. I knew he was tight w/ his brother Sterling and came from a poverty stricken background but I never saw what drove him to be such a great player. Definitely something to be seen by anyone whether they are a Bronco fan or not!

After watching this Shannon is now my 3rd fav player.
With those being Elway , Walter Payton , and Shannon

I always loved Shannon and knew a lot about where he came from and how rough him and his brother had but watching him talk about it in his own words just affirmed he's number three...

I never even really had a list of favorite players I just always went with Elway and Payton was my favs and left it there... and if anything Terrell got mentioned because he in ways helped my hero (John) to not be Dan Marino.

Or maybe it's a tie for 3 between T.D. and Shannon I don't know hehehe.

But anyway watch that if you get a chance...
I was sitting there at the end when they talk about his gramma dying fighting off tears , and my girlfriend jumps up off the couch crying hardcore to go a tissue and says she's going to ball like a baby during his induction speech.

But watch it ... it's so worth the time.

I am really looking forward to Saturday. I'm betting he is the quickest one to lose it, and that is fine with me. He is one of my favorite Broncos of all time. My wife was stationed at the Marine Corps base at Albany, Ga (in southern Ga). I got out a year ahead of her (that is how we ended up in Atlanta). Going down there on the weekends for a couple of years and not having any money we spent a lot of our time running all over south Ga in my Jeep. I was floored at the level of poverty in some of the areas we ended up driving through. I write this because once I heard the story of the Sharpe brothers (they are huge here within the Atlanta sports scene, very respected and loved) I became an even bigger fan of both of them. My father comes from the same kind of world as the Sharpe brothers. I get it. I worked for a guy for a year or so (corp world) who was a former Marine and grew up with and played football against Glennville and the Sharpe brothers. He said that flat out Sterling Sharpe was the finest athlete he ever saw, but that no one played with more fire or heart than Shannon. He also said that every one on his team just wanted to kill Shannon for all the trash he talked, but was also the funniest guy he ever heard tallk trash on a field. Sorry for the rambling, just very happy for Shannon and looking forward to this Saturday.

Wow, what an inspiring story. I didn't know he grew up in such abject poverty. I'm going to have my kids watch this. Its pretty impressive that two kids can emerge from that sort of situation and have that kind of drive. Even without the athletic ability, these two would have been successful regardless. They are class acts, and Shannon is just an all time great Bronco. I think he's somewhat under-appreciated here in Bronco country compared to others.

Great post ... L rep O ...

Sharpe really is the American dream tho. If you try to work harder then everyone else and set your goals way out there most of the time even if you fail to get to the highest point you get pretty dang close.

While I watched that Shannon thing today I told my girlfriend, jeez he's my dad.

My father was born in the 30's in West Virginia to a family in a log cabin and lived like Shannon in a lot of ways. No indoor plumbing and working from dust to dawn. Stories of a few oranges and their one pair of shoes for Xmas , and if the 10 acres they farmed didn't do well they just did without sometimes. His dad a wwI vet and his mom a preachers daughter work as cooks for a timber mill to avoid the coal mines which was basically what EVERYONE did up there and Dad wanted better and wanted to get his mom and dad out of that life style and moved away and did it.

I heard Shannon say so many things in that documentary I've heard my dad say a 1000 times. Stuff about being scared to fail , and so much depended on him and others being able to live the way he/they wanted depending on it from our family to employees of his company.
So yea I balled like a baby during it...

Dad has 30 some of these now and 70 some trailers.

And did what he said he was going to do and the biggest lesson to me I think was anything is possible in America if you try hard enough. I hate it when I hear people say they can't or there's no way to make it starting with nothing.Because trust me you CAN ...

At 71 years old he decided he wanted his pilots licence which he'd never had before. Here's the old man with 1 of his 2 planes so trust me you can do anything you set your mind to.

Now I'm rambling as well so don't sweat it Dutch . But I totally get what you mean and that documentary really hit home.

No sweat, TD. My Dad turns 80 in a month. Joined the Marines at 17 to get off of the Cherokee reservation in Oklahoma and help support the family. Ended up a retired Sgt Major with 25 years and two wars, then became an engineer with a Nuclear Stamp and worked in the Nuclear power industry until he turned 72. They didn't have anyone who could take over his job at 65, so he stayed on until they found the right person. He's a big Sharpe fan as well.

Yeah, what a great episode. I think more people need the drive to push themselves. If you work hard, then work harder, and then when you get the one chance, work even harder and push until you are the best. There is always someone looking to take your job.

Shannon looks like he still could suit up (and he'd instantly still be the best TE on our team). Sterling... not so much.

I really liked this, I learned a lot that I didn't know about the Sharpe brothers. Can't wait for Saturday!!

I really like the story too. It was well done, and I had a huge knot on my throat when I saw them talking about the grandma'. It's a must watch.
