OT: Dark Knight Rises trailer - The Orange Mane

If I'm being honest I don't love the trailer (though it shows more than most teasers) but I know it will be a good movie regardless.

Quite frankly I thought the majority of the fake trailers that were circulating within the past few weeks were better than this.

It's a good teaser, it's not supposed to show you everything.

Wonder how Gordon ended up in the hospital bed? Bain looks the part in that snap shot. I am just glad there won't be any Rachel love interest side stories in this conclusion to the Nolan series.

The weird thing about Bain is the actor that plays him (Tom Hardy the English guy from "Inception" and "Bronson") is about 5'7" while Bane is supposed to be huge. Could be a lot of camera trickery.

I liked it, not because of any artistic value, but that it accomplishes what an early promo at this point in the marketing game should do: build up tension and anticipation. Your tension can't help but rise watching that scene, even if you don't understand everything he's saying. That tension rolls directly into the branding graphic (the city scape with the batman logo outline), and then concludes with a silhouette profile of the "bad guy," leaving discussion open for who that badguy might be.

Brilliantly done from a marketing standpoint. Artistically, it's hard for me to speak to. The art, to me, is in the effect it generates more than the visuals themselves. But I think it's an effective commercial. I know I can't wait to see it.

Sorry, the Dark Knight Trailer might have been the best movie trailer ever...

Ish. Bane, Catwoman and kinda Joseph Gordon Levitt's character. And maybe Ra'as al Ghul again?

I am very curious how they pull this off. In my opinion, treatment of the villians is always the toughest part of Superhero movies. The suspension of disbelief is put to serious stress where super villains are concerned, and once it is broken, the movie itself is broken. The previous Batman incarnation in the 90's provide great examples of this with their treatments of The Riddler, The Penguin, Catwoman, and Mr. Freeze. The last Superman movie's treatment of Lex Luthor was horrible, with due respect to Mr. Spacey, whom I respect a great deal - but his Lex Luthor was unbelievable and flat.

I can't wait to see how the villains are handled in this movie. Considering that Nolan completely changed the paradigm for how super villains were handled in movies, I've got some confidence that everything will be alright...
