I went to school and lived in LA/Long Beach for 13 years, so I extend my sincerest condolences to all who will be driving during Carmageddon this weekend. It could get ugly, so try to stay a)off the roads; b)calm; and c)refer back to 'a'. In the meantime, Maners, let's all give these poor souls doomed to a weekend of hot weather, backed up sidestreets, and aggravating drivers in 86 Chevettes, something to smile about. Post something funny or encouraging for 'em, would ya?

I still remember when they tore up the 55 and building that triangle square thingy. That was a mess for me. Shutting down the 405 is HUGE.

That's going to be real fun.

There are other options but non of them good. Other freeways take you way out of the way and the side streets are going to be fubar. The section they are closing is through a pass in the Santa Monica mountains (really hills).

Worst moment on the 405... Broke down in the middle of the 405/605 interchange at rush hour traffic. I was driving a friends fancy sports car at the time. Nothing screams d***H**** more than a bright yellow Lambo smoking in the middle lane. I learned that V12s don't like to idle much.

Thank god it was a parking lot or I'd been killed sitting like a bright yellow duck in that damn thing. Then I'm fighting with the tow trucker because he wanted to haul the thing without a flatbed. I swear a few people were waving guns at me (the few that weren't laughing anyway)

I agree. I think there were be some major traffic in certain areas, but people are acting like it's going to be the end of the world. Like every street and freeway in the city is going to be a big parking lot. I'm not going to the valley, so I don't think I'll have any issues driving around LA. But anybody trying to go over the hill, yeah, just don't do it. You'll never get to where you're trying to go.
