Whoever was driving that car should get in some very serious trouble.

Completely irresponsible.

For those who haven't been watching, it's been a tremendous race... and yes... with a few nasty spills. Saw a guy break his collarbone the other day.

I'm getting set to do a 100 mile ride at the end of August. I'm currently at my 30 mile ride point. I've got a long ways to go still, but I'm confident I'll make it.

That's a lot of biking in one day. My bro was averaging 80 (did up to 110 some days) when he bikes across country and he came back looking like a puppet with a giant head.

Luckily the steroids hides the pain of such a fall. The driver of the car probably experienced some roid rage by the bicyclist.

I have been watching every day, haven't missed a stage. I don't understand all the crashes this year.

I think it could be Karma catching up with all the dopers because Contador keeps going down, Vinacurov(sp?) went out in another spectacular crash, then you have the car taking out the breakaway after the Vinacourov(sp?) wreck and earlier in the tour a camera man on a motorcycle caused a crash. They must be getting their camera chase cars from NY taxi cab drivers.

I thought it was sad that the car took out the break away because that effected the Yellow Jersey.

BTW to those who think I am wasting my time watching cycling because they are all doped up I don't care mainly because the background of the French country sides are some of the most beautiful scenes you could get, it is almost like a travel log.

I don't know how those guys ride as far as they do for 3 weeks through mountains and sprints with only a couple rest days without roids.

To be fair, the car did that to avoid smashing into a tree.
Still an incredibly rough fall, though...

The driver didn't need to be that close to the breakaway riders, it looked like he wasn't paying attention and panicked when he saw the tree.

He should have slammed the horn to alert the riders as he braked. The breakaway were in the middle of the road but they have the right of way.

The dude he hit could have been run over by the mechanic car had it been tailing closer, I couldn't believe the dude who got sent into the fence actually got back on the bike, I would have called it a day after the barbed wire ride.

I'm not saying it isn't his fault, but he didn't sideswipe a bike because he was texting while driving or something. He was avoiding potentially dying.

He also could have been looking where he was headed and seen the tree prior to having to swerve at the last second and endangering other lives.

Made the tour de france relevant for a few days. Good for the sport imo.
