Default Cool picture looking down on NYC from new 1 WTC building

As we approach the 10th anniversary of that day, I thought people would enjoy this image from the new building.

Please enjoy the image and progress before the Gaffs, Epics and Bajas destroy the thread.

From this article on the planted trees:

Quote:
An elaborate subterranean irrigation system, with individual tubes running to each tree, will water and fertilizer the grove. The trees' condition, soil moisture and temperature can be monitored remotely through sensors embedded into their root balls.
Pretty crazy.

Or not... I bet Bush Jr. knows...how to clear brushwood.

Gaff- to seize or impale with a hook on a stick, or a barbed spear, for landing large fish.

I think judging a city by a shot of a construction site isn't so fair. If you look just across the street it appears much nicer.

And I too lack the power of keen.

This thing is only about 40% of its final height right now. I really dislike the design, both of the building(s) and the "reflecting pools".

As an aside, NY is a beautiful city. This is an ugly photo.

You know you're afraid of heights when a picture like that freaks you out.

It amazes me 10 years after the tragedy the place is still a big building site.

It's not even close to done.....I walk by it every day. They work tirelessly on it, around the clock, but my guess is that is was just a massive undertaking

There was a ton of red tape initially to get this thing off the ground... to approve a plan that satisfied the public (aka what Bloomberg deemed acceptable enough as a memorial) and the developer (Bloomberg's buddy who needs to rebuild office buildings all around this site).

Final design

Leaves much to be desired for such an important place imo.
