Default Happy 50th Birthday RTG

Happy 50th Birthday RTG

http://www.space.com/12118-space-nuc...ransit-4a.html
On June 29, 1961 Transit 4A was launched atop a Thor-DM21 Able-Star rocket. Transit was a Navy program and precursor to today's GPS system. Aboard was the first radioisotope thermoelectric generator, or nuclear battery, sent into space. RTGs have continued to be a long lived and reliable power source for NASA, including Apollo landers, Voyager 1+2 still operating near the edge of the solar systems and the dune buggy-size Mars Rover to launch later this year.

It is aweinspiring to think that the Voyager's are still operational after some 30+ years NASA expects them to have power for another 5-10 years.

Is that an RTG, or you just happy to see Pluto?

Nuclear badonkadonk headed to Mars...
