Douglas County School Vouchers
I'm curious what thoughts you have about vouchers. It was on a statewide ballot here in Utah a few years ago, and it was overwhelmingly defeated. The teachers union put LOTS of money into fighting it.
I have nephews that have been selected to participate in the program in Douglas County.
I like the concept, in theory. I feel much better about trying it on a small scale. My brother is going to have to come about $5K out of pocket, per student, to do it. The $4800, or whatever, that they get in the voucher doesn't buy much.
National group enters Douglas County voucher fight
The Institute for Justice, a national Libertarian nonprofit, filed motions in Denver District Court Tuesday morning asking to let four families help Douglas County Schools defend its voucher program in two law suits.
Michael Bindas, senior attorney for the Institute for Justice, said his group will represent the families pro-bono and will work alongside the Douglas County Schools and the state Board of Education to defend the program against separate lawsuits brought by the American Civil Liberties Union and Taxpayers for Public Education last week.
The voucher program provides partial scholarships for up to 500 students currently attending Douglas County schools.

as long as the per student spending for those not receiving vouchers is as much or greater than the vouchers, i could care less.
