Default Gingrich is slime

http://news.yahoo.com/s/atlantic/201...hbusiness38810

A charity founded by Newt Gingrich paid Gingrich's for-profit company $220,000 over two years, ABC News reports. The non-profit, Renewing American Leadership, was meant to spur conversation about restoring Christian principles in Washington, and mostly did that through letters seeking donations. The list of people who responded to those letters with checks was given to Gingrich--something that would be very valuable to a potential presidential candidate building support early in the campaign. ReAL, as the non-profit is called, also paid full-price for Gingrich's books and DVDs. ABC News asked Gingrich for comment ahead of a speech in New Hampshire, but the candidate would only respond, "I'm not concerned about that. The American people aren't concerned about that. Try covering the speech."
"Newt Inc." as Gingrich's many organizations are called, has helped Gingrich stay in the public eye and his ideas in the public debate since he left office as Speaker of the House in the late 1990s. It has also made him rich: he bought a $1 million home in the suburbs of Washington, secured a $500,000 line of credit from Tiffany's, and, most recently, went on a two-week luxury cruise, the last of which cited as a reason for many of his campaign staff quitting en masse. Figuring out how all his organizations work together can be tricky, ABC News explains:

whatever i guess its not illegal if stupid people want to send you money for nothing more then your jet trips, but it should be. Gingrich is not only a huge stain for repubs, but really just another example about how ****ed up our politicians are. Christian principals? isn't that like feeding homeless, housing them, giving them medicine? This guy should be taken out and shot he makes me sick to my stomach. He better hope that a lot of you are right and religion is just made up. If its not I would hate to be him on judgement day, if there is one errrrr

In a way they all play up the religious aspect. Even the Obama! I do have a problem with saying something is for religious values in DC then really just using it to be rich. Has Bush really done phantom charity? Unlike Gingrich he has remained mostly on the sidelines since he left DC.

Hardly.

When Rove was grooming Bush for a WH run, the cornerstone of his plan was to make the frat boy appealing to evangelicals. That was how they would win, according to Rove.

How has Obama done this? Just curious.

In any case, he certainly didn't ride into office by pandering to a specific religious voting block.

I just wanted to say I think Gingrich should step aside. Not really argue how any President secured enough support to win his nomination. I'm sure every repub does have to get the Christian right to support him to win the nomination. Just like the Dem can't do it without certain left segments. So what is your point? Do you have anything about Bush starting a charity then funneling the money to his own businesses and jet travel? If not then like usual it's just an LABF hijack. It's all good though it's fun to see you turn every picture into the bush bogeyman. Your seriously obsessed with him more then anyone in the world.

Just making a valid point, i.e., that Gingrich had every reason to believe the "Christian" front could work for him. Sorry if you got butt hurt because I mentioned your hero.

You're a crack up even when you agree with me you have to try and turn it into an argument on some front. If you don't see that aspect of your personality then whatever. It's really sort of funny. Even when I eat one of my own you have to attack somehow. There is a ism for your affliction I'm sure.

Wasn't trying to turn anything into an argument - just making an observation.

Like I said, I can't help it if you're still sensitive about anyone mentioning "you-know-who."

If I were a Repub, I'd want Gingrich to stay in as long as possible. He's a smart guy and really is well-versed on a lot of issues that the media isn't gonna really let the candidates talk about. He'll engage topics, make some good observations, get hammered in the actual primaries, and go away but the GOP crew is better with him in, especially since he won't really take votes from other candidates since everyone knows he can't win.

Interesting take. I'm not saying he isn't smart just I questioning his ethics I guess. He does have a good grasp of how Washington works that is for sure.

He writes books about family values and commits adultery on his first two wives.

He calls for impeachment of Clinton while getting knobbers from one of his staffers.

He then marries said staffer.

What's not to like?

You forgot the one about him drawing up divorce papers with his wife while she was undergoing cancer treatment in the hospital. Quality, quality guy.
