I figured it was some pixelation problem, but then again there's no ice to reflect the sun to present that color. Maybe it is some kind of prank.

Could be pixels. Also, if you see when he's zooming in, the "bio station" isn't that far out from where we see ice and other white areas appearing on other parts of the map. Frankly, if Google was having fun with people I think they'd put something a little more tantalizing than a line of blurred white pixels.
