QFT.

Rudd would make our team instantly better. Starting a rookie just because he was drafted is NOT a good idea.

Of the FA's I think we have a shot at, he's the one I'd want most.

and then I'm in the minority that actually wants Tommy Harris

Ruud is going to get a very nice contract from someone. He's not coming here to provide depth, if we sign him we're going to be committing to him as our long term starter at MIKE.

Which will mean we've drafted Irving to be a backup, which with all our needs is not something we can afford to do in the 3rd round.

We need to spend our money in FA elsewhere.

We need to stay away from harris, his knees are shot. Whoever signs him will see him hurt twice as much as they see him on the field.

I vote we trade Orton, Tebow, Moreno, Xanders, Elway's legacy, Mike Shanahan's ghost and our #1 pick for the next 10 years for Ndamukong Suh.

Ruud isn't going to sign cheap and he isn't going to sign short term. If they wanted Ruud they never would've drafted Irving.

Joe Mays and to a lesser extent Mario Haggan are the guys that Irving needs to beat out for the starting job. Is what it is. Our FA dollars will be focused on DT and RB.

I just want to know how he came to the conclusion that this is a "shallow" FA pool?

yeah.

Scream if you must, but if they want a cheap wide body to keep a guard and a center, Big Money might give a team 15-20 snaps. Mebane and Franklin are the cream of the crop though. I hope they get one of them, and someone to rotate in.

yeah. There was a seperate link with Xanders saying they were impressed with Vickersons "quick feet" and Thomas had been played out of position and was really a single gap defender. I think Xanders was saying Vickerson could play over center and be a two gap guy, but I think he was saying both guys were more suited for an under tackle or three gap type alingment. If that's true, they need a NT/2gap DT.

PS, Ian Williams out of ND also wasn't drafted and he might make a nice project. I'm sort of prejudiced against golden domers, as I'd rather see Ohio State win a natl championship or perhaps hell freezing over before ND wins another, but hey, why hold it against a kid.

Did someone say Ian Williams?

That is a smart move. Dude is a baller. He might not hold up, health wise, but his numbers are on par or better than pretty much every DT in this draft except fairly.

Look em up...he is right there with dareus, austin, all those guys.....But Ian- I believe has bad knees.....Another dewayne robertson perhpas.

Who knows, but as a UFDA he sure could look good for us.

I'm just not too comfy with anyone on our roster as the starting MLB. I wouldn't mind having someone like Ruud for Irving to sit behind and learn from. If/when Irving can beat him then we deal with that situation. I'm not gonna be upset if it doesn't happen but it would be nice.

and then we have a logjam at position if irving comes on. and perhaps stunting irvings growth. no way rudd signs a one or two year deal. denver is rebuilding we have the luxury of trial by fire

Yeah I heard the interview with Xanders... We definitely need an NT, but not two (Mebane and Aubrayo).

I believe we will pursue Cullen Jenkins for UT, and Mebane for NT (Xanders was quite familiar with Mebane, when asked).

Hope we can land one (for a reasonable price).
